hey all, i've just started a new game with Portsmouth and have 13m to spend. I'm looking for some good defenders and midfielders to help me push for Europe.
The thing is i don't want to blow all opf my money on one player as i could do with 4-5 new signings.
I've brought in a couple of talented kids but i don't want to throw them in the deep end from the start! any suggestions? i play a narrow tactic without wingers but could desperately do with a left back! many thanks in advance.

borught in wome quite cheaply. Does the job for a season or two and then you can replace him.

Sign Alan Hutton as a right back. He is relatively cheap. Now in my 6th season as Pompy manager he was captain for four of those and now has been sold for £20 million to Manchester United.

Watch out for that African Cup Of Nations. It killed me in year one.

Try and lure steve sidwell on loan. It can happen if you try hard enough.

It is vital for the Premiership to keep a strong back four together all season so i would probably go with the two strong centre-backs of
Distin and Campbell. Strong, Tall and solid. not to quick which is why sometimes it is important to play slightly deeper than usual.

Midfield needs to be compact. like you said you play a narrow formation. If you do bring in flying wing backs like Hutton then i would be telling him to drive up the line as much as possible.

Strikeforce is always going to score goals between them. So not much tweaking needed up there.
