Default Lead Striker for Portsmouth - JAN Transfer Window

Hey Everyone.

Thought I'd come here for a little help/advice. Currently play as Pompey and just about to get to January and the board have politely increased my transfer budget to £23M. Hopefully, with some of this money I'm going to buy another striker. While Benjani as done very well up to now, I need someone to help him out as my other strikers don't cut the mustard.

I'm hoping someone can give me an idea on who to get, please bare in mind that its the first season and I'm Pompey so I won't be able to attract the very best of players. So I'm after a bargain striker who can do a job until I get my reputation up and attract better players. The best one so far, I've been able to get is Jo. Although he could cost me upwards of £9M. Any information on him, or any other players would be most helpful.

Could I also ask, the £23M they have handed me. Will that carry over to the next season budget if I don't spend it all? I don't want to lose the money, but I'd rather save it till the people I want become available.

Many thanks fellow managers!

I don't have Jo at the moment. I've been scouting and have approached him to see if I could indeed get him. I'll get him if he's worth it although my scouts doesn't think he's that good.

Utaka is currently playing on the right side of a 4-3-2-1 with Menez on the left. Utaka is the only player I can play on the right at the moment without playing someone alot poorer there.

Once I get home tonight, I'll have a good look around for strikers and come here if I need any advice on how good there.

Anyone know the answer to the Budget question I have?

Im playing with Portsmouth, I got the same amount as you in Jan!!

I spent about £15m, and dont worry you'l get loads of money in the summer!

I finised 5th, got £40m!

About strikers, try-
Anelka, Defoe, Gyan, Berbatov (if Spurs are playing rubbish)
Nugent should do well for you.

Also try and get some players on loan cos of African Nations. I got Flamini, Simic and Dacourt.

Jimmy Briand
Cesar Delgado
Muaro Zarate
Edison Cavani (not sure if he'll come though)
Fred (same as above)
Kevin Doyle (usually wants to leave Reading after the first season.)
Ikechukwu Uche (have a look at him. He's VERY good)

Have you tried to buy Jeremy Menez from monaco, im Pompoey and got him in the first season in august transfer window for 10mill, hes quality played up front, but also good on left and right. Nugent is my top scorer, doing v well, benjani and kanu not cutting it for me and utaka got injured early on but looked v good before he got injured! Try and buy Genaro Zeefuik from PSV hes 17 with bags of potential.

Totally forgot about the African Nations Cup. Man, that could really screw up my season if I don't get players in.

I shall take a look at the players mentioned. I'm wanting to try get a bit of an all rounder as he'll be the lone striker.

I should hopefully be finishing in the top 6 unless it all goes wrong at the end of the season, hopefully that will net me the £40M you got Mizan

Gideon - I got Menez at the beginning of the season for £10M too. He's played well and the fans seem to like him although personally think he's got some settling in to do.

Benjani is my top scorer too. He's been playing the lone strikers role and he scored some important goal (none more so than a recent 1-nil win over Chelsea) so I'll keep him for now. Kanu and Nugent have been very poor and not done anything to keep there place.
