Just got thumped in the Conference South play-off final with Basingstoke.

I was on a high, having a strong end to the season, charging into 3rd place. I beat Newport 2-1 on agg in the semi and was due to meet Fisher in the final.

I lost one player through injury in the second leg vs Newport. I then lost six players to training injuries in the few days between the Newport and Fisher games, including my star goalie, best defender and best midfielder. I had to play several players who had not featured since the opening weeks of the season. One of my full-backs then got injured in the opening exchanges of the Fisher game. Having not failed to score in the previous 13 matches, my patched up team failed to muster a single shot on target.

In 15 years of playing one version of this game or another, I have never got any team up in the play-offs and I don't think I ever will.

Im really lucky with Play-Offs usually - Not good just lucky.

I remember signing a goalkeeper with 3 games left of the season left (he was a 19 year old with naff-ish stats) as a 3rd choice, and within those 3 games, my 2 other keepers got injured and I qualified for the play-offs via GD - Ended up losing them, but admirable.

I have won every play-off I have ever had with Leigh RMI - And with Margate - Ive won 2 play-offs I think.

BLNT - Or just hope you dont go to the play-offs.

I just love playoffs.

It doesn't particularly matter if I win or lose, (but obviously I prefer winning), but there is just something special about playoff finals that you don't get with cup finals.

Give me a playoff final over a cup final any day.

I have usually done OK in them but I lost the last one I played. (Wrexham vs Boro for an EPL berth).

What made it all the worse was my striker who scored the late winner away in the semi-final second leg got himself sent off straight afterwards and missed the final. And my other striker was injured!

Then we lost to two fluky 30 yard goals from their left winger.

Brazil has so many play off spots it's like playing the league all over again

I think China's my favourite league thus far. I don't enjoy managing in Poofland that much, but China's fun for some reason.

I've never been lucky with playoffs. For some reason my teams, who might of looked like Barcelona the week before, just seem to fall to pieces when promotion is at stake.

However, as Jimbo said, they are very exciting, nerve shredding occasions.

Whilst playoffs can give you extra palpitations, they aren't half exciting.
