Good read

KUTGjojoing!

And don't worry about the player naming, just use descriptions in stead of names next time

...Gah, got a 90th minute equaliser against while typing this post...

There are diamonds amongst the rough.

I'll be buggered if I ever find any when I play golf though.

I always find a "diamond" in the rough when I'm golfing. Funny thing, though, the rough always seems to change the writing on the "diamond".

I can confirm that my single most expensive signing, a goalkeeper of considerable ambition, did indeed join the attack during the 50th minute of a one goal game.

Anyone have any antacid?

This is actually a very readable update, and it's always nice to see someone else in Chile.

Curico Unido
First Division B

2010

In: 3
Out: 1

Board expectation: Win First Division B
Fans: Challenge for First Division B title.
Media: Challenge for promotion

We start off not scoring, including a 0-0 draw against frontrunners La Serena, who play us off the park. I fear for my offense, as I sit in 5th-6th for a long time. Gradually, though, confidence picks up, and we start to score, and climb. Then we face La Serena again, get outplayed, and lose 1-0.

Near the end of the first stage, we get it together again and win 5 in a row. \o/

First Stage: 3rd of 12: W: 10 D: 9 L: 3 P: 39 GD: +15

Second Stage, our second match is against La Serena. I know I need to beat this club to move into the top 2, so I really go for it, especially after they score an early goal. By halftime, I'm down 3-0, which ends up being the final score.

Our strikers skid, but then my Brazilian youth I invested in last season goes from good to great, as he starts scoring in bunches from midfield.

With 2 matches left, we're assured of the playoffs, but need a win to have a chance at automatic promotion. We lose.

Second Stage: 3rd of 8: W: 7 D: 2 L: 4 P: 62 GD: +7

Interestingly, we're only 2 points behind our 2008 tally, when we won the division. This year, though, we would still have finished third.

Off to the promotion phase.

We start off with a win, against fellow division B side Union San Felipe. The next 3 matches see my top 3 strikers injured, and 2 own goals costing us 4 points. Amazingly, though, we can secure promotion if we beat Santiago Morning. We need to do with with a very injured striker, though, and 2 quick goals sink us, as we lose 2-1. Now we face Antogafasta, who have already secured promotion. We need to win to have any chance, and striker is still dead tired. We fight bravely, and win 2-1, but Santiago Morning win again, and it's not enough.

Relegation stage: 3rd of 4: W: 2 D: 2 L: 2 P: 8 GD: +1

In the fall, the board offers me a 2 year contract, increased salary, increased salary budget, but no transfer funds. I've been fighting off transfer bids for some of my key players all season, so I'm sure I'll be able to find the cash.

Change is coming.

Gah!

I mentioned the La Serena matches, because our fourth and final one was the punchline. (Then I forgot to mention it!). Having been outplayed by them and having yet to score against them, we face them for the fourth time, having watched them slip to second. I call out a couple of my players, and try a doubtful strategy. By the 35th minute, we're up 3-0 and have had a goal disallowed. We cruise to victory.

\o/

Highlight of the season, no question.
