With FM2008 approaching I have already chosen the mighty Burscough as the club for me, regardless of knowing anything about them.
Some of you will know I have sinned a lot in the past against the realism that you strive for.
I am familiar with the LLM rules. However, is there any other prudent points to be put forward before I start my new game to ensure I can post here in the future with no need for frowns or tuts as I have fully complied.
I am talking about refusing to have a parent club that sort of thing. Anything missed out in the rules that the majority of you go in for.
I asked the same thing myself when new to the world of LLM in the not too distant past and was told to that all you need to know is in the stickeys. Other that that, let your conscience be your guide and if you need to ask if something's against the guidelines, then it probably is. Wise words. I can't remember whose words they were, though!
It's not the rules and guidelines that make you LLM, it's in you or it isn't.
It's an ethos which almost certainly applies to you yourself and not just the way you play FM.
I too did the whole "Can I..?", "Is it okay....?", "What if...?" malarky when I started. Frosted everyone's apricots, I can tell you, but all were polite.
Basically, going from what you've posted in the Alfreton update you appear to have got the hang of it now.
And I agree, if your scout shows a player and says "Meh, he's okay I suppose" but you know that he's currently setting the heather alight for "The Stab Inn Sunday XI" in the Conference North, it's hard to decide if you buy him or not.
I suppose if your scout favours a different formation and style of football, you could claim that he'll fit in to your own style better especially if his stats do fit better.
Example - scout likes flair filled slick samba style, you prefer hoofball upto big huddy. If the players a 9'10" brick sh*thouse, sod what your scout says!
I get no pleasure from cheating or gaining unfair advantages. My best ever FM save was with Lincoln in Div 2 when over 4 years I got them too and kept them in the Championship and it was as realistic as you can ever imagine.
But then if you were Hull and a certain former African Footballer of The Year wanted to sign for you I'd say it's not realistic! What's the old saying. Fact is sometimes stranger than fiction!
Parent/feeder relationships are not permitted by the Home Nations, beyond agreements that teams play an annual friendly. It is rumoured though that unofficial links exist.
In terms of LLM, this would mean you cannot have such relationships when playing with an English, Northern Irish, Scottish or Welsh club.
