Season 2007-2008

Team: Margate

League: Conference South

Position: 10th

W18 D5 L19 F59 A63 P59

Didn’t draw as many as I maybe should have, but a decent season, well considering I inherited a poor squad.

FA Cup: 2nd round qualifying

FA Trophy: 1st Round

Top Scorer with 18 Goals, Assister with 13.

Players In: 20

Players Out: 17

As you can tell this season was mainly about rebuilding, brought in some good players and got rid of the oldies who were taking a nice slice of the wage cake. Spent Nothing, Earned Nothing.

Season 2009-2010

Team: Margate

League: Conference South

Position: 6th

W17 D15 L10 F71 A48 P66

Looked great in parts and with 4 good strikers we should really have done better, we had a good goal difference but defeat on the last day saw us lose out on the final playoff spot by a point.

FA Cup: 4th round qualifying

FA Trophy: 3rd Round

Top Scorer with 22 Goals, Assister with 12.

Players In: 6

Players Out: 13

Maybe expected better after adding quality to a 3rd place finish last year, but patchy form towards the end cost me a decent finish and a potential playoff position. Still was optimistic for the next year.

Season 2008-2009

Team: Margate

League: Conference South

Position: 3rd

W23 D5 L14 F78 A48 P74

Always was in contention for play offs and comfortably inside it before the end of the season, 5 points clear of 6th place. The joy of a 6-2 aggregate win in the Semi’s was thwarted by a 4-1 crushing blow 2nd place team, Crawley, another season in the Conference South it was.

FA Cup: 4th round qualifying

FA Trophy: 1st Round

Top Scorer with 22 Goals (From CM), Assister with 11.

Players In: 7

Players Out: 8

Nice season with a poor squad, could have drawn some more again, we always either scored or conceded late on, but the results evened themselves out, so I wasn’t too concerned, VERY optimistic ahead of the new season.

Stunning season, winning the league title by 10 points, and 2 goals a game, not to mention some good form towards the end of the season, meant we racked up some nice scores during our travels around the south of England.
FA Cup: 2nd Round
FA Trophy: 4th Round
Top Scorer with 28 Goals, Assister with 14.

Couldn’t have aimed higher and with only 4 new recruits during the season, due to wages being a huge problem, I had to work with what I had, a stunning season from a 40+ year old keeper was a bonus as he was expected to be bench material. Signed a striker with a lot of potential on a free transfer. Definitely needed to rebuild a small squad of players, which if honest, were lucky with injuries and at times, results.

Season 2011-2012

Team: Margate

League: Conference National

Position: 18th

W14 D13 L19 F59 A62 P55

5 wins in a row in mid season were one of the few high points as I finish just 4 points from relegation, we rode out luck at times but at least we got to stay in the league. Building blocks were in place for a good squad.

FA Cup: 4th Round

FA Trophy: 2nd Round

Top Scorer with 20 Goals, Assister with 12.

Players In: 5

Players Out: 13

Got rid of some players who were clogging up the wages and spent it on a good batch of players, although small numbers again. Goalkeeper who again was a saviour at times- and being 42 was again surprising, announced retirement next season, so a new one was brought in in mid season, again a young lad who could be good in the future. The striker with potential scored 10 goals in a good year for him and an U21 cap for his country was a deserved bonus.

Season 2012-2013

Team: Margate

League: Conference National

Position: 8th

W19 D14 L13 F54 A39 P71

What a Season! We were so tight at the back and had the 3rd best defence in the league. We were always there to nick a 1-0 from a team who were glad to sit back and take a point from our well organized pockets.

FA Cup: 2nd Round

FA Trophy: 1st Round

Top Scorer with Goals 13, Assister with 12.

Players In: 8

Players Out: 17

We weren’t big scorers but our young lad was the top man and nabbed 13 crucial goals and a few bigger name clubs were interested. A great performance from a Centre Back and central midfield saw me pick up 150k and 325k respectively, both could have became greats at the club, but the clubs finances were poor, so money was a must if we wanted stability. With only 4k out going, I had a nice budget to try and get some good players in. I managed to sign a versatile defender with a bright future, who did well all year and along with our young striker he picked up some U21 caps and some vital experience.

Season 2013-2014

Team: Margate

League: Conference National

Position: 11th

W20 D11 L15 F66 A53 P721

Despite the lower finish, it was a better season than the last one, proved we weren’t 1 season wonder and only 2 points separated us and 6th, a place which we did occupy before a mid season slump and only a decent season ending saw the club in a good position come the 46 game mark. Tamworth, finishing 22nd managed to concede a 100 goals, with Marine and Grantham getting 98 and 94 respectively, all in a goal stuffed season.

FA Cup: 4th Round Qualifier

FA Trophy: 4th Round Qualifier

Top Scorer with 17 Goals, Assister with 12.

Players In: 8

Players Out: 3

Very pleased with the performance of the team, fluctuating form wasn’t a problem as it always came on the end of a good run, so its excusable, Signed a Bermudan 17 year old from Blyth and a Stunning looking 18 year old, who broke his leg at a harsh age, so missed a lot of development and matches, meaning that it could turn out to be a poor buy. A hat-trick of signings from 1 club for 8k saw 2 naff looking players with fringe-player potential, and a incredibly good looking keeper, who would be rushed into first team action as soon as possible was the bright spark of a red hot season.
