Took on a one year contract and had an uneventful opening season. Knocked out all the cups early on meant the team could concentrate on the league and they did. Concentrated on getting relegated. Still I’d done enough to stay up by 2 points, which pleased the chairman so much he offered me a three year extension with some possible transfer kitty. The Reserves and Under 19s both finished 2nd in their respective leagues managed by the AssMan so I picked up the Underachiever award for my own efforts, it stands proudly in my bathroom.

This season had a déjÃ* vu feeling about it, as our performances were a mirror of the previous season. It seems the players know that the cups suck ass, and that the bad results don’t matter while they can scrape a win every few months. It went to the wire, with me needing a win in the last game of the season and hoping results went our way. The team played football which wasn’t our style at all and a 3-1 win helped us to stay up on goal difference. On a positive note, my 17yo young centre-back became both mine and the club’s first international success, albeit at U19 level, earning a few Welsh caps. The little chitlins won their league, well they romped it, and the reserves came 2nd again in theirs by one point, so at least something went right this year. 21yo striker picked up the Welsh Young Player of the Year Award and we moved onto the next season.

Took a bit of a gamble by selling my best players, including the young U19 international (to English Premier League side Southend). Surprisingly the team performed a lot better without them and we started stringing wins together, which was now found territory for us. We managed to perform even worse in the cups, which I thought was an outstanding achievement, but I started putting bromide in the teas and things started to work, and by the time the season ended, we all had nosebleeds for being so far up the table. The chitlins retained their league and the reserves once again came 2nd by a point in theirs. I now have an Overachiever of the Year award to go with my Underachiever of the Year in my bathroom.
