In the end its your game but it seems to me that you are still letting your knowledge influence your signings and other decisions in game.

I think it is hard not to.

I guess the only way round it would be to manage in the lowest French division which I wouldn't enjoy I don't think.

I always try and sign 'new' players. I've player loads of seasons in LLM with different clubs and know the strikers that will bang in goals. But I tend to stay clear.

I recently signed an 18 year old from Vauxhall Motors that I had never heard of but he was second top scorer in the charts so I decided to check him out to see what the fuss was about.

I think the problem sometimes is in FM07 itself. I mean if you are struggling for goals you might look at the top scorers chart but to scout the player don't you have to go into their page, where there stats are shown (even though in real life you wouldn't yet known these)

Unless you play with the masked stats on. Doesn anyone here do that? If so does it populate your own players in time and that sort of thing?

One way to avoid signing known players would be to use the 'random player names' feature.

I suppose so. Although I guess with FM2008 round the corner and a new LLM save I should be okay and a few years in the regens start up.

Thanks for all your advice. Apologies to all for my previous past attitude. I was getting divorced from the bitch from hell which fortunately meant more time to play FM2007 but also meant a bit of a short term personality problem!

Cheers

She can take the car, the house, the kids if we'd have had any.

She knows better than to try and keep me from FM2007.

You think you guys got it bad. You should see the way I treated my misfiring striker at Basingstoke!

I think at one point I contacted SI and say under the discipline section there should be a brutally beat option.

He was the single most useless player I have ever managed in any FM game. His skills should have been negative figures.

A few things Jenninga, on top of guys previous mentioning the fact real life knowledge should not be used in LLM.

As soon as you press continue for the very first game on any save (whether it be LLM or a non llama doing it), the game immediately deviates from real life and starts it's own footballing world.

Because of this, and especially for lesser known players, you will find that if they were to be compared, the same player will be of a better standard in one save that he would be in another.

In terms of you managing Stalybridge and knowing players from Ipswich... it is possible that Ipswich youth (not reserves) may well go on loan to a Conference Regional side, but it would be a local side, not to Stalybridge which is 200+ miles away. They, being 18 or under could not afford to move away from home (unless they were lucky enough to have rich parents), nor would Stalybridge be able to pay for any living expenses for them.

It's good you've taken an interest in LLM and in time I think you can become a valuable llama. You need to take heed of what the seasoned llamas say as at the end of the day, all the rules, guidelines and ethics of LLM are there to ensure all llamas experience the most enjoyable and realistic form of playing FM there is.

Thanks Nobby.

I know what you are getting at. There's nothing to say that IRL Mr 20 goals a season in the Conference doesn't have a nasty injury after the first save of my go and never recovers his true form or knack of finding the net.

I've always played at LLM level but not adhered to all the rules here simply due to not knowing them. Now I do I am sure to implement these in FM2008 and can't wait to get going.
