Well, the board seem to be keeping me on for another season.
Previous 5 seasons were spent at Leigh, we managed to get promoted to League 2 but the Ayr job became vacant, I applied, so I was Jockland bound...
...and finished bottom :o

Old story...players were crap, staff were crap, manager was crapper, scouts sat around with their thumbs up their arses...
This season, though...this season...I have a good feeling, although we lost three, drew two and only won one friendly :o

Season 2012/13
I had a feeling about this season.
Automatic promotion, ears cuffed in the cups, Division 2 here we come...
Wrong.
As disclosed in another thread, I had three offers of a new contract, each one of which matched my current wage, when negotiated the new offer was less than 50% of what I was on.
So...Ayr...meet jack.
On the job market again.

Delusions of grandeur eh? One promotion and he wants a 100% pay rise... Pfft even the players only want 25% pay hike for a promotion.

Season 2013/14
Ever heard the old adage of "The Chickens Come Home To Roost"?
I was approached by Montrose, languishing in 6th place in the 3rd Division.
Using a shortlist from my Ayr time I signed a couple of players, then a couple more.
With these four we managed to finish in 3rd place, in a playoff position.
P36, W18, D9, L9, Pts63.
Playoff semi final saw us up against East Fife, who we'd played 6 times (2 in the Cup) and lost 4 and drawn 2.
First leg saw a 3rd draw, 2nd leg saw us romp away 4-0 winners at home.
That saw us through to a playoff final against... Ayr United!!! :eek:
First leg, at Somerset Park, we came away as 2-1 victors, 2nd leg at home ended up a 0-0 draw so we'd beaten Ayr in the playoff final and replaced them in Division 2 \o/
If they'd only made a better offer... | |

See...Montrose know how to treat their managers...offered £80 a week for four years, negotiated to £120 a week for a year :cool:
