Loaded all leagues from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The missus sends me to Chimney Corner in the Northern Irish 2nd Division.

Media/Board: Mid-table (I think, but can’t really remember)
It’s an interesting set-up in Northern Iron, as anyone who has read Jimbo’s threads will already know, but I still wasn’t really prepared for just how many cup games there really are, it’s ridiculous! I managed to sign a striker that could bully defenders and pretty much built my team around him.
Had a fun first season, despite the cups, and although we weren’t consistent by any stretch of the imagination, we still managed to gain promotion.
2007/08 Northern Irish 1st Division

Signed a 41 year old left winger and a 17 year old striker at the start of the season, but the scouts could only find complete carp after that. Against all odds, we put a good run together, helped by numerous goals and assists from the bully and won the league by one point on the final day!
At this point I decided that next season would be an assault on Europe…
2008/09 Northern Irish Premier Division

I signed two big, strong centre backs and an exotic-sounding attacking midfielder in the close season and looked smugly at my squad. Of course, my plans went awry and we didn’t win for the first five games. A few cup wins boosted our morale and we surged up the table, eventually finishing a respectable 7th. Glentoran were run-away winners of the league with 66 points, and they took six of those from me!

The board were expecting much of the same as last season, but again I was quietly confident. I managed to sign a skilful right-winger and a striker who was in the Rat Pack, leading me to belt out some of his well known hits at the top of my voice (much to my girlfriend’s consternation) every time he hit the back of the net… or should that be both times. We had a horrible season, and I threw in the towel about half way through, leaving my assistant to save them from relegation by a single point. Good man.

I spent a couple of months working in a fish and chip shop while secretly claiming dole money before I got a call from Weston-super-Mare to come and help them stave off the looming relegation.
Weston-super-Mare English Conference South
A quick look at the table told me that they were four points from safety with six games to go, so naturally I jumped at the chance to join a club with such an illustrious footballing history.
We started fairly strongly, winning my first two games in charge, before losing the next three. On the final day, we needed to beat high flying Gravesend and hope that other results went our way. They did. We thrashed Gravesend 4-1 and Thurrock lost their game. The mighty Weston-super-Mare were safe for one more year.

I was happy to be back in Blighty after my excursion to Northern Iron, and went of a veritable spending spree. I signed six players, the most expensive one made me buy him a pair of Adidas trainers plus £50 a week!
The squad was fairly good, with a nice mix of youth and experience. I just injected some pace into the team and things began to click. A strong start saw us in the top half of the table by Christmas and looking good. No sign of the aquaplaning that I usually suffer around that time of year and our form held on to put is into the play-offs!
We came up against Dorchester in the semis and won the first leg 2-0. Great I thought, We’re off to Wembley. Nope, we lost the second leg 4-1. Spineless wasters.
Still, I think the team are strong enough for a real push next year.

Season 2010/11 Weston-super-Mare English Conference South

I decided to cut out the pretty football that Weston-super-Mare have become famous for and signed a big-strong centre forward, in a hope that he’d steal a few more wins for us this year. I also brought in some good young centre-midfielders, then I crossed my fingers.
It took a while for the squad to gel properly, but once they had there was no turning back, we won the league by six points!
A particularly pleasing point was the big-strong centre forward, he was top goal scorer and highest in the assist rankings. He still didn’t manage signing of the season though! Looking forward to and assault on the Conference National next season.

Season 2012/13 Weston-super-Mare English Conference National

In preparation for the step up I signed a left winger who looked promising (he wasn’t) and a strong right back, who promptly broke his leg. The season was a non-starter and we spent most of the run up to Christmas languishing in the bottom five. After a particularly humiliating defeat against Accrington, I fined my whole defence. People got angry, we all said some things we didn’t mean and I handed in my resignation, something that I immediately regretted.
Still, these things happen. On to pastures new.
