Ok, I know you guys can be harsh but here's hoping I do this update properly.

Hi, I'm me, I'm originally from Devon but moved to the USA 5 years ago. I get FM sent over every Chrimbo. I've played with a few "sleeping giant" teams and used scouting etc to build squads, but read the LLM rules and fell in love. Finally, a passionate reason to build a team.

I ignored Frank, and plumped for the nearest team; Conference South's Dorchester is where I went.

Conference South: P42 W27 D9 L6 F77 A33 GD44 P90 1st

In came a few bolsters to my squad; a few AMs and a few defensive players. Realised a few games in my pacey ST would get me through and with sound tactics we walked the division.

Frankly, I thought LLM was easy (I've read the horror stories). I thought perhaps Dorchester were too easy, or we had an amazing squad. Lo and behold, not quite true:

Conference National: P46 W22 D14 L11 F83 A48 GD35 P80 6th

I start realising my first season was, frankly, a bit of a fluke. Signing in quite a number of players, including two SCs to be pacey and a quality LM. I now look back and regret not bolstering our defence more.

We started well, went through a tough patch and got beat to playoffs last day of the season by a resilient Halifax. A good start, but had to grow for next season in the Conf. I sold a number of players at the end to give me something to work with, we were losing money.

Conference National: P46 W20 D13 L13 F72 A50 GD22 P73

Frankly? I wasn't as good. Less goals, more conceded, but the league itself seemed in a malaise. My 73pts here, including a win against Boston on the last day, got me into the playoffs where 80pts before wasn't enough.

Tough tie against Exeter saw me salvage a 2-2 at the Avenue Stadium, while away we scraped a 2-1. I have used my negative style to grasp that play off spot, where I duly hammer Oxford 4-1 after a 4-0 in the league.

Basically, I get to the League on the thinnest of margins and wonder if my FM karma will bite me in the ass.

The prelude is a 3rd round tie to Liverpool away nets me huge moolah, so I'm trying to get facilities upgraded. I feel really happy with my squad; brilliant at home but lame away.

Also, damn scouts retire/quit so I lose all that info. Players I've seen before that become good come up in news and I fume, knowing that my scouts didn't discover them.

The other side? This version is far too fun, much more challenging, and never have my skills been pushed so far.

Really great idea, this forum, and I'll continue with updates.

Welcome!

KUTGW!

Nice thread title, too.

((Am I the only one who just skips over the three seasons and says some random, generic "KUTGW"?))
