Default Boozing in Burgenland...an update

1st update so please, be gentle!

All leagues loaded in Scotland, England, Germany and Austria.

Used Frank for the 1st time, giving me Parndorf in Burgenland, Austria. A quick Wiki tells me they're just promoted, with a population of under 4000. A snazzy thistle on the badge, though, keeps this Jock happy.

Season 2006/2007 - Austrian 1st Division

Media prediction - 12th

Players in - 5 for 0K, Players out - 3 for 0K

Sending my new scouts out unearths a few needed DC's, one a 39 year old former Austrian International who becomes captain.

A good 1st season which sees us up there pushing for the only promotion place, sitting top at the start of the last 3rd. A nasty injury to my best player puts him out for 6 months and inconsistancy sees us drop to an eventual 5th, 5 points off top.

League Standings - Finished 5th
P-33 W-14 D-10 L-9 F-41 A-35 Pts-52

Cup - A sucky 1st round exit

Players of note - My GK, 1st divs GK of the year, my AMC, Fans player of the year with 7.08 and top scorer with 12 goals, my AML, who gets capped for Bosnia and my 6'1" Macedonian 20yr old SC who gets capped as well

Avg Attendance - 1915 (85 short of cappacity)

Season 2007/2008 Austrian 1st Division

A moral dilemma to start the season. Babelsberg 03 have been promoted to the Regional Division North in Germany and, as the founding and only member of the Tartan Army Null Drei Supporters Club I agonise over whether to apply. The lure of football in Potsdam is too strong so I apply.

Get knocked back. B*****ds!

Comforted by the fact that my board accepted my request to improve my dire training facilities and a new sponsorship deal worth an extra £140K, I concentrate on the job at hand.

Media prediction - 8th

Players in - 6 for 41K, Players out - 12 for 1K

A poor season, thanks to my AMC failing to find form and fitness after his injury, sees us languishing mid table until the end of the season where we're drawn into a relegation battle, sitting 5 points off 3rd bottom with 3 games to go. Secure safety on my 2nd last game.

League Standings - Finished 7th
P-33 W-10 D-10 L-13 F-41 A-35 Pts-40

Cup - A sucky 1st round exit

Players of note - My young GK, ousting last years for the No1 jersey, my now 41yr old former international DC, who retires and joins the backroom, my influential AMR with teams best Avg rating of 7.06 and again my Macedonian SC, top scorer with 12 and a couple for the national team.

Avg Attendance - 1024

Season 2008/2009 - Austrian 1st Division

Getting increasingly frustrated with a lack of any (decent) players wanting to come to me, despite a sizeable wad of cash to spend, thanks to my stereotypical Scottish tightness in paying my squad peanuts. Again, comfort myself with the board accepting my demands to improve the youth setup and training facilities again, giving me one of the best training set-ups in the league. Convince myself I'm building for the future.

Media Prediction - 7th

Players in - 2 for 0K Players out - 4 for 0K

A fairly solid performance sees me anchored between 5th and 7th all season, but with only 7 points between 2nd and 8th I'm happy with that. Promotion a non-starter as Leoben storm the league 13 points clear of 2nd. A loss on the last day of the season sees me finish below media prediction for 1st time.

League Standing - finished 8th
P-33 W-14 D-7 L-12 F-45 A-38 Pts-49

Cup - Average 3rd round exit

Players of note - My DL, making a record 102nd appearance for club, my newly returned AMC with top avg rating of 7.19 and top scorer with 12, becoming the clubs all time top league goalscorer with 32 and my influential AMR who was touted for player of the year by the media.

Avg Attendance - 1235

It was a strange feeling when I first started. The large wad of cash in the bank (800K balance with 600K to spend on players) and a large wage budget (5.5K per week, although I only used less than half) made me think this maybe wasn't a proper Llama league.

The fact no-one wanted to come to me, the 3 relegation spots and 1 promotion, and the fact that 12 points can be the difference between top and bottom convinced me the challenge would be a lot harder than I thought.

To be honest though, I'm only using them as a springboard to bigger and better things. Namely the managers office for the mighty Babelsberg!

Now, if they can only get promoted back into Regional Liga Nord......

No, Norm, that has to be a LLaMa league if you get away with wages that small.

My bank balance is way in the red and I have no transfer budget, horrible compared to yours.

Yet my wage budget is about three times higher than yours. And I use most of it.

I'm looking even stronger now. It was always my forte to keep clubs running well financially and I've continued that trend here.

Now sitting at £2 Million balance with £1.1 Million to spend on players and 10K for wages. Using just under half that and most of it's taking up with my gargantuan back room staff (2 physios, 3 scouts, 5 coaches and an Ass Man).

None of this matters though when no-one wants to join you though. I've been chasing a 21yr old Nigerian AM/FC for 3 seasons, out of contract for the last one and he's just retired.

B*****d!
