Akropolis, Swedish First Division Elite

Fans, board: battle bravely

Media: 13th

Players out: 9 for 725 K \o/

Players in: 10 for 92K, including young Cuban striker

Year starts as the last one finished. Chairman accepts a good offer for my Swedish-Arabian ST. Finances look better, team looks worse.

The new DC from Belarus makes the defence much more solid, and the new Cuban striker's goals keep us in the top half, while the Big Fat Greek is injured. As the Big Fat Greek returns, we rocket up to 2nd place, and at halfway through, we're 3rd, performing superbly. For a moment I think we can be in for a promotion.

Fool me

From mid-July to mid-August there's a serious slump, and the 6-match winningless streak puts us down to 9th. We never find consistency later, but after beating two promotion contenders, we're back in it.

With two games to go, we are 4th and two points behind GAIS, who are occupying the promotion playoff spot. Unfortunately we blew our chance with a draw (GAIS win), but complete the best season of club history with a 4th place. Actually, we haven't been out of the top half whole season

Pos.: 4th
P: 30 W: 14 D: 7 L: 9 45-38 49 pts

Swedish Cup: Second round again Again at home vs Premier league opposition (IFK Göteborg 1-4)
---

* Top scorer, signing of the season: young Cuban ST

* Best avg., Fans' player: Big Fat Greek, 7.32

The good: excellent season, improvement in defending, transfers turned out better than I thought.

The bad: no complaints

Avg. attendance: 732 (/750)
---

To consolidate finances, I have to sell my U21 international DR/MRC (leaves a gaping hole), a DLC, and a young left winger. The latter spent more time in hospital than on the field, so getting rid of him for 100K+50% is excellent

As of 1st December we're in the black \o/ Still no stadium/facilities improvement, though

I aim for midtable next year.

Oh, and we were voted overachievers \o/

KUToverachivingW

Its hard to recover from bad form in leagues where only a few games in the season, never mind better luck next season.

@ bigsie:

Indeed, but it's true the other way round as well. In my first 2nd tier year, we struggled through the year, and one brilliant month was enough to secure my place with 5 games or so to go.

BTW this Swedish First League Elite is one of the most enjoyable leagues to manage in. It's totally unpredictable, and usually there are large packs of 6-8 teams together, so you never know, what a good period/slump can cause.

Akropolis, Swedish First Division Elite

Fans, board: mid-table

Media: 9th (odds: 20-1)

Players in: 9 for 105K

Players out: 11 for 1,5 M

I tried to concentrate on improving the back four and the striker department. Pre-season was very good, though we know, it doesn't mean anything.

But.

This time the pre-season signalled good things to come. We started with a 10-1-0 streak, and pretty much left everyone behind by halftime. A small injury crisis caused some roller-coaster performances, but with 2 games to go, we celebrated the promotion and the title with a 4-0 win over Öster

We're going up! \o/\o/\o/ Took seven years to reach the top tier.

Pos.: 1st (promoted)
P: 30 W: 20 D: 4 L: 6 66-32 64 pts

We were 12 points clear in front of a 4-team pack, who had a breathtaing battle for the other promotion+playoff spot (3 teams finished with 52 pts, one with 51)

Swedish Cup: as always. 3rd round (that is, the second for us) vs Östersund, 0-2 at home
---
- Top scorer: Cuban striker, 14 goals

- Fans POY + best avg.: Big Fat Greek Striker, 7.55 (and 11 goals)

The good: almost all season...

The bad: ...excluding the cup

Avg. attendance: 693 (the home cup exit against Östersund brings it down )

Awards: manager of the year, 6 players in the league's best XI
---

First time ever for the team in the Allsvenskan.

I was handed a 2-year contract expansion, and a triple wage rise.

Team turned pro, facilities are upgraded, I'm asking for a stadium expansion (still 750).

Hard, long battle ahead.

Great season!

Stadium expansion denied due to lack of funds.

Well, we're proud owners of a slightly pathetic 750-seater, which is like the away sector of an average stadium

750 is surely everyone standing around the pitch.

Good luck with eventually getting a ground
