Default FM2008 Demo

Hello everyone

For those of you who have been playing FM2008 demo, what are your opinions so far on the level of difficulty?

I know that every version of the game is different and it takes a little while to find tactics that work for you, but I'm finding it very hard indeed

Do you think it's because it's a demo and still full of holes / bugs / gremlins? I got spanked 4 - 0 buy a team of greys this morning

I didn't play it much, just enough to see what had changed, and that what little I know about tactics hadn't been swept away by the new version.

To be honest, I found it fairly easy - certainly no harder than 07. IIRC I had a quick blat with Gretna (I think) and a club in the bottom Finnish division, played 3-4 games with each and did pretty well. Admittedly I'm not what you might call a tactical finesse man, so I may not have been as exposed to any changes as others.

Same as always, it's just different.

I played an hour against 9 men last night (who lined up as 4-4-0) and they created more chances in the next 60 minutes than I did. With experience I'll crack it...

I certainly enjoyed playing and personally I kinda like the new skin. As others have said, the same just slightly different. I think it's going to be a while before any sort of major revision (like the 2D match engine) comes along and shakes the game up.

What Rourke said there about tactical finesse is probably what's giving me jip.

All my players have their own instructions as I've tweaked and developed tactics over 10 game years in 2007 and I'm finding it hard to replicate

Hopefully it will come together in the new version.

I'm finding it a tad bit easier this time round (im certainly finding it easier being bury anyways), i cant wait to try out the whole LLM thing, something i havent done before due to me not really frequenting these forums.

One thing that im worried about is me laptop aint actually that great and doubt it can cope with loads of leagues running which i see so many other people do on here =/

Don't worry about running many leagues, the most important thing is to ensure at least one league goes all the way to the lowest rung avaliable and that you have a large database. Alot of people like to have many leagues because they hop around alot, others, myself included like to generally stay in one league and flirt around in that, or maybe the big 5.

Ste93

As each new version of FM comes out they try to make it less resource intensive, not more. I know thet the step from 06 to 07 was quite significant in that I could run lots more leagues than before.

Hopefully the same will be true on 08, and it will save and load much quicker too.

Even a rubbish laptop should be able to run England, Scotland and Ireland on large.

Didn't we have a thread on our opinions of the FM08 Demo? Try a search, Rynny.
