Yes, I understand what LLM is...I have done it before, and followed the strict rules.
However, there is people that follow rules blindly, and people that like to have reasons for doing what they do.
My understanding for LLM is to make the game more realistic...Start at the bottom, as a real manager would (esp. as we can't be a coach or anything in a 'management' game).
So yes, I can see the reason that it isn't within your static LLM rules, however I can also see a big reason why lots of people that are into LLM would also find this concept interesting. Esp. if you take over a smaller nations U19s/20s/21s.
"I'm sure there will be loads that slam the idea"..
I'm not saying this IS LLM. I'm saying it has a similar feel as far as making the game feel realistic, and making the manager work there way up from the bottom.
Again, basically ths is for pepole who don't just follow rules blindly, but have reasons for doing things like LLM. Ie. They think it makes it more realistic, and enjoy the challenge. Not just "I want to fit into a sub community so need to follow all of the rules exactly" |
Alex,
The problem is: "LLM" as a concept has been used as a metonymy in your post: you are adding new meanings to this concept which cannot be derived from it's original concept.
So far so good; you paid your cash for your game and as a consequence you are entitled to play as you see fit and give that game a name as you see fit:
If you edited Chelsea to play in the Irish Premier Division, play with them naked, slurping a chocolate smoothie on your laptop you borrowed from your 6-year old Swahili teacher and want to call this LLM, go ahead: you're in charge.
The problem however is; you shouldn't try to make your definition of LLM, our definition of LLM.
As stated above; each player has his/her own concepts of playing the game and a choice to call this LLM.
On this forum however you should not do this; LLM here is not an individual concept, it's a set of rules/concepts/guidelines you should follow to be considered LLM by the players on this forum. You get the picture?
If you consider yourself LLM, you are.
But you're not considered LLM on this forum if you try to 'bend' definitions (which were made by members of this forum) because you fancy a game with the Nepalese U21s...
It's like joining a football club and then trying to change the colors of the shirts because you don't like them and you prefer them to be your favourite color. Will not happen.
If you want to be part of a club/community/group/society you should agree with the rules/guidelines/laws.
And now you will go:
'But if I want changes I can try to make them happen by giving rational and valid arguments (as in politics)?'
Nope; LLM on this forum is not a parliamentary democracy. For us it's a fact of life.
No hard feelings by the way. Just giving some pointers on how things are perceived here. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I really appreciated this post. As you really seem to have clearly written and explained your opinion.
Some other guys seem to have neglected my point, or just dismissed it without consideration...Obviously taking over the England 19s as your first appointment would never happen..However you look at other places in the world and this isn't so much the case. Obviously it isn't going to be a nobody that gets the gig, but someone that has all of their badges, and has worked at an academy or something can often pick up this type of placement.
Anyway, I'm positive I'm not going to convert anyone, and to be honest, I'm not trying to. My first post (and then my third) said that I'm not saying this IS LLM. I'm not trying to change LLM in anyway, because I know this isn't it. In my opinion it is likely however to attract similar minded people. I say this, because previously when I have played FM, I have basically played LLM. I say basically, because I have never really read all these strict rules, because I play to have fun, and don't play online anyway. However, I've never downloaded any tactics or looked up on the net who is the next superstar etc. The only thing I have really done against the rules is used an updated database (as I honestly don't believe at all in the SI balance thing-they have that many different researchers I'm sure that an updated database isn't going to upset any balance etc).
Anyway, I've said my piece. Just wanted to point something out that I thought might interest some people into this way of playing the game.
