They are usually seriously over-rated in the game, probably to keep all the kiddies happy who want to be England manager from day 1.

I don't think that England are overrated in the game. It depends on the leagues loaded. If England isn't loaded because you play on the other side of the world, England will achieve about as much as IRL.

I never load European leagues and England are realistically obscure in all my save games.

Well still... Italy out in Colombia's group and Brazil. Surely a little S. American nation doing that deserves some credit?

See, England have some damn good players, we've just never got it together in real life.

The game obviously doesn't have those kinds of problems, hence Poofland winning more

Eh? How could Poofland get knocked out prior to the world cup by Colombia? Did you mean knocked out in the group stages of the world cup?

I have the whole of Europe loaded, and England are rated as number 1 in the world and have been since they won the 2010 world cup.

It's now 2015, and they are still number 1 despite being beaten in the 2014 world cup final by Ukraine (controlled by me ) and have just come top of their Euro qualifier group with 7 wins and 1 draw.

Previous saves have seen similar patterns.

I definately agree that poofland are vastly overrated, managers that IRL are carp somehow to guide them to international glory in far too many saves.

However they have just been knocked out at the group stage of Euro 2020 in my current save.

Things might just be getting back to normal.

Tim: look at this and you will understand:

2008 EC: Knocked out in Quarters to Portupoofs 1p-1(Realistic)
2010 WC: Didn't qualify over Italy and Switzerland (Bordering realistic)
2012 EC: Champions, having beaten Spain 2-1 (89th minute) and Frogland (1-0 AET) in the quarters and Semis, and then 2-1 against Portupoofs in the Final (bordering realistic)
2014 WC: Knocked out in last 16 by finalists Colombia (realistic as they were finalists)
