I just managed to get Dorchester out of the red and back into the black (now in my 3rd season), but I still have a transfer budget of zero. Has this happened to anyone else?
Quite often, yes. Just because you're in the black at the start of the season, doesn't mean you'll be there at the end.
Have you got an increased wage budget? - that money has to come from somewhere.
Have you asked for improved facilities? - that money has to come from somewhere.
Are a couple of key players up for contract renewal and possibly want wage increases? - that money has to come from somewhere.
There are all sorts of reasons why a board don't give you transfer money, even if they're not already in debt.
I didn't tell all in my initial post (no boasting etc), but I've made it to L2 now and I'm making about 100K profit per month (have about 1M in the bank). Maybe that's not enough for the board? I did make some cash for transfers by cutting money from my wage budget, so it's not all bad...
