Default Winning the EPL with a non league team.

I have have just taken Crawley Town out of the Conference in my 2nd season. Considering they start with -10 point at the start of season 1 I think this is pretty good going.

Now that I have moved up to Division 2 I have been given 11K as my transfer budget. But I am really struggling to any players. Even now I have moved up one division I am still get no better players interested in joining me on free transfers.

Am I doing anything wrong? Just rather worried that I am about to start the season with the smallest squad in FM history.

just try and sign players on free transfers, make sure when searching you leave intrested blank then approach each player. Sometimes you can get better players then you would normally expect to get.

Being a small club is a hard challenge and unless you find a sugar daddy interested in increasing your wage and transfer budget you'll have to trade carefully to make your way up the divisions ....

When you're a small club bringing through good youth players is a satisfying way of improving your squad and also making a tidy profit (should a larger club make a bid upon them once they've proven themselves) ..... continue to do well and if you're patient then eventually you might find yourself as one of those large clubs poaching the players, but its a challenge and it will take time.

Thanks for that tip, I was able to get two first team players this way.

Not interested in using the sugar daddy cheat. Just want to prove to myself I can do it. I guess I am doing something right as I am starting to get teams bidding for my players now. So will be interesting seeing how much of that money I get to spend.

The Story so Far..

Season 1
Crawley start with -10 point at the beginning of the season, signed a few players on free transfers as I had no money. I finished 9th but 20 points away from the play offs. In the first season I was using this tactic

For me the most important time in any game of FM is the end of the first season. This is when you can pick up some very good players for not so much money or even better free. Which when you are Crawley is great news. I was able to pick a very good young defender from Pompey for nothing and then I got Crompton an AMLC/FC for free as well. Both these players were a lot better than my current squad. I was also able to pick up some better squad players for free as well.

One tip I would definitely give is as soon as you take over a Non League Team is to check the wages of players. I had two players who were never going to get a game on 1K a week which was nearly double that most of the players where on.
