Default FM360 question concerning the 3 cores

Hi

Just been reading some information about the hardware and history so far of 360 and the PS3.

From everything i've read so far no games are offically using the 3 cores yet, i wanted to know if anyone knows officially if FM360 is at least optimised/supporting the 3 cores, i don't want 360 fanboys shouting it does at me unless they know for sure, preferably like to hear what someone from SI has to say.

Regards

Chris.

Even though you probably want to wait for an official answer, here's my take (it won't hurt, honest).

Games have been using the 3 cores from day one; the developers of PGR3 and Call of Duty have both said that their games do.

Even though I'm not from SI, I remember Miles saying that the delay in the games release would allow them to optimise the use of the different cores, so I would expect confirmation of this.

FM360 utilises all the available processor cores during its running (in a similar manner to how the PC supports multi-processors).

This makes the game considerably faster, especially when processing matches.

your joking right from all the statements i've read the launch titles are only fully using 1 core, although i would believe SI are at least supporting all 3 cores as i find SI spend more time developing there games compared to other devs and especially if Miles says so!

anyway thanks for the reply

thanks for clarifying that marc, was just curious. yet still i dont think i could force myself to play it on the 360 rather than the pc.

I would have thought all the games have some sort of support for the 3 cores. Otherwise surely they wouldnt be capable of the graphics in the games? I mean in Farcry theres so much going on, the game would lag alot without utilising the 3 cores? Wouldnt it?

I know of a few devs that have released games who are using the different cores. They might not be using them all the time, but code is split in the right way to work if there is crossover.

Because of the way our game and code is structured, multi-core is very important for, as Marc pointed out, multiple matches at the same time. I would expect that those that aren't using all the cores/threads at the same time are probably utilising other areas of the system to do things that we don't use, like areas of the graphics processor.

As more people get used to coding for the machine, expect more to be using them.

Call Of Duty 2 used 1 full core on sound effects alone y'know..

FM definitely feels like it's using all the cores, the loading times are far superior to my PC FM's.
