is it possible becuase i do not have ethernet on my pc so i just dunno what i can do , only have usb which i have with ntl broadband but is there a way i can connect it without ethernet if yes please help me on this so i can order my xbox 360 soon
On the NTL modem there should be an extra socket which is an ethernet socket (it was on my one), just connect an ethernet lead from there to your xbox 360 and it should work straight away.
The other option you can do is buy an ethernet card from pc world, cost from £4.99. They are very easy to install. Then set the ethernet card to internet sharing and connect it up to your xbox 360.
Using the second option does mean you have to have the pc on when you want to go on xbox live.
The first option you can go on xbox live with out the pc switched on.
I have used both options, when I was with NTL I used the first option with no problems. Now I am on Wanadoo I have to use the second option and have no problems at all.
can i use any ethernet lead for example ntl have given me one its a blue one so if i connect that at the back of my ntl box and in to xbox 360 will it work? hope it dont make any difference ?
when connecting ethernet to xbox 360 does it only need the console in front of the pc or the tv aswell ? becuase the distance between my tv and pc is a bit far across not a whole lot but it is ?
When I was on NTL all I did was connect the ethernet cable from the modem straight to my xbox, When I signed up I did tell NTL that I was going to be using xbox live and they supplied a 30 metre cable FOC, though at the time there was a small charge for the broadband + xbox live, this was 3 years ago.
I don't think NTL charge extra for the broadband + xbox live any more, but as Miles Jacobson advised give them a call to double check.
so they can install this for me i mean i understand you connected your ethernet straight in to your xbox but what do i need to ask NTL? for extension cable ? and it only needs the console near the pc doesn't it?
i rang NTL they said i will need router if i was to connect with internet and xbox 360 together , i wana know do i need my TV in front of my xbox 360 aswell its bit far from my pc the TV is? and if yes what do i need to get so i can connect it with my tv any sort of extension lead?
