Pah, ya should've gone to Specsavers.
I heard it off one of the SI chaps on here in the past somewhere I'm sure, they say the 360 FM can process 6 matches at once.
Micro$oft have got a policy of sorts about 360 games having periods of nothing-ness during loading, so I suppose the amount of leagues had to be limited. I don't mind myself, the db sounds large enough and I only ever run the 7 English leagues anyway.
But I appreciate others that want to run more may be dissapointed.
But such is the way with console gaming, sacrifices have to be made to ensure games are the most playable. Lord knows the fixture processing on my PC version irritates me slightly. |

lol funnily enough i got glasses just b efore that :-p I've never seen so clearly but still get things wrong lol
as for the 6 matches at once, that mtaches what i said. 3 cores, each capable of 2 threads. each processor can process 2 games at once.
as for the running more leagues, yeah i'm disapointed. how mayt of you would payt for a download to remove this limit? would that be allowed. as we wouyld know what we wewre getting then and microsoft couldn't really moan. I'd shell out for it if it wasn't really expensive. whatever way you look at it, for many p0eople the 360 would be quicker than playing on the PC. seems silly (to me) that they aint looking at exploiting that somehow. even if it costs me extra to get it.

I've got a 3ghz Athlon with 2gb RAM, how many leagues do I run on FM '06? 7, the leagues in England. Why? 'Cos that's simply all I need and creates a decent speed of play. If we're gonna make the consoles overclock themselves (and lord knows my 360 discs et hot enough as it is!) by adding 730 leagues in the database, we may as well be playing on the PC!
Consoles are simple and fun, that's what makes them different from PC's. No patching, no need for hours of FAQ hunting for a tech bug for your Geforce card, and certainly no want or need to run so many leaguesin FM '06.
I appreciate people can be dissapointed by a possible smaller amount of leagues (as some were with previous console CM's and other console footie games).
But I don't know anyone on this planet who has played a game with every league and country set to on on their PC yet. That would be surely the only ultimate realism database size you're going to get, so why try replicating something that mammoth (in the name of realism it seems) when the machine you're running the program on can't take it, forget won't.
FM is a HUUUGE game that I'm sure probably will test the 360 along the likes of Oblivion and DOA 4. (have you heard the noises from your disc drive when playing that game? And talk about hot potato disc! )
The nearest I've come to being a professional programmer is crying in a bout of insanity by the time I'd hit page 90 of Visual Basic For Dummies, but as far as I'm aware no amount of cores or processing power in the world can replace RAM. As has been explained in a previous thread on here, the 360 uses a different 'type' of RAM, which enables faster processing but less memory.
One of the problems people faced with the PC version was slow loading times. They're not bad on my PC, but 1. not everyone can afford even a half-decent PC and 2. People (especially console owners) these days don't want to be sat there waiting for a huge db to be processed every day.
Anyone who has ever since the beautiful travesty that is wrestling simulation 'TEW' or - much more famously - the original X Box 'Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind', will knows what I'm talking about there.
I'm fully confident the SI folks will do a grand port of a true classic. I've waited for this moment since Christmas in 2002 when I bought CM 02/03 and an X Box. I believe even if there's only 2 playable divisions, it'll still be the most played game in my 360 collection. And at 20 hours so far and counting, beating Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion isn't an easy task either! | see what you're saying but not everyone had a descent enough PC. I have one in the study that runs supeer fast but my brother uses it 24/7 so all i have is the one in my room. Will run FM but not fast or anything.
infact, i couldn't even get Cod2 on my PC but have it for the 360. My 360 is better than my PC |

Oh I can sympaphise believe me, 5 years ago my bro's PC wasn't the best in the world.
Now I've got the 360 version I can confirm it does indeed run a fair bit faster than the PC version. The controls and pitch have been voiced against, but I've gotten used to them after a few days play and can now see they're about as good a job as was possible on a console/standard TV setup.
So in all honesty if you haven't got a great PC, I don't see it as a hindrence anymore with FM. I'm pleasantly surprised to be playing it on the 360 and not touched the PC version since last Thursday. |

now Jon, tell me. Now you've played it. Are my claims of how fast the 360 would run this game still looking as silly to you? :p
even with the full ten leagues, i aint counted but i've certainly never had to wait longer than 30 seconds for it with processing on screen and and it might even be under 20 seconds. this is why i reckon they could have given us more leagues allowed easily.
and by "us" that might be me meaning microsoft if the loading times thing relates to the initial game setup which is longer, and what has been said there is accurate.
you could up this to 30 leagues no probs in my opinion and still have outstanding speed |

| The 'big' loads on PC version take about 10-15 seconds on the 360 from what I've judged so far. Quote:

the 360 has 512MB of GDDR3 RAM running at 700mhz (1.4ghz effective speed)
I've never seen the game use that much when i played with around 30 leagues, on a PC you can check, and also need to acount for normally very least 100mb for operating system and stuff.
and the 360 RAM is way faster.
the machine can handle it.

It ain't the speed of the RAM that's the problem though, it's the capacity. If SI say the 360 can only do 10 leagues, they must have reasons. |
