This is my major gripe about the board confidence for cup competitions.

I'm quite happy for the board to comment on the clubs actual performance in a cup, but setting an expectation is just ridiculous. The expectations should be dependant on the opposition drawn in the competitions.

The board slaughtering you for losing to Man Utd away in your first match is just as stupid as the board praising you for beating a few lower league teams then losing to someone you really should have beaten.

A better system would be for the expectation to appear after each draw is made, so you get a message like 'the board expect you to beat Stalybridge and progress to the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup' or 'the board want you to enjoy the experience of facing Chelsea in the Carling Cup fourth round'.

Or, if who you're drawn against can't be easily coded into the expectations, at least scale back the cup expectations dramatically.

Also, another way to do it would be to scale back expectations in general for competitions that aren't as important (i.e. Carling Cup vs. Premier League).

Hopefully SI will at least make some basic changes (meaning ones that won't need a lot of coding) for its next patch. This is frustrating.

The board basically ask you to win everything every year. If you fail one, you'd be mad at. If you fail 3, then they'll show you the door...

I have the same expectation as what you say now. I also take Czech Rep job which ask me to reach semi final of world cup. Czech team only have Peter Cech as a "key player", the rest of the squad are only Decent or worse. It's a bit too much stress with all these expectation, so I guess I'll drop this job.

My Forest side was expected to get to about the 4th round of the league cup. However, we had to play Man Utd at Old Trafford in the 3rd round and got hammered. The board were very unhappy with this - even though they were way too good for us.

The board confidence is too black and white. If you're a lower league side then it should recognise when you've been beaten by a side with a much higher reputation and be sympathetic.
