Wondering if anyone has noticed or knows whether the game recognises 'insignificant' games such as the League Cup to the top teams, but more importantly games like the Man Utd game against Roma this week - Ferguson has acknowledged it is a chance to rest players, result doesn't matter etc

Does the game also recognise this/not reflect in the fans feedback on game results/not have it affect morale? If not it certainly should - from what i've seen the fans seem to care too much about the League Cup etc (especially the top few teams).

i don't think it does. your expected never to rest your players or give young kids chances against smaller teams per say. it would be a good add in for the game do. good idea.

I think the confidence thing is a load of crap.
In my first year as Wigan manager my team expectation was to reach the FA cup fifth round but i drew Man Utd in the 3rd round and lost.
My board were happy with the 2-1 defeat at old trafford but were disappointed not to reach the fifth round????

work that out.

Its happened on more than one occasion but with different circumstances.

The detailed confidence thing is an excellent addition to the game but it definitely needs fine tuning. A couple of experiences from me:

1. My star player for my lower league team was poached by Arsenal. As part of the deal they agreed to play a friendly. Nice pay-day, and I prepared my team by telling them to enjoy the run-out. We lost 0-6 and it took 6 months for the fans to get over it.

2. The converse is when I was drawn against minnows in the first round of a cup 3 days before a 'big' game. I put out my U-19s and we won 3-0. The fans were disappointed the score wasn't more emphatic.

I'd like to think that with a year to tweak, SI will get these right for FM09
