But does it though? And if so, exactly how much of an effect does your reputation have on whether a player will decide to play for you?
I've been wondering this recently while playing as Gateshead. If I overperform as manager and increase my reputation will this have an effect on the number and quality of players willing to sign for my club? Or is it based solely on the reputation of the club itself?
I feel currently it's the latter and club reputation is by far the most important factor with regards to what players you can attract in the game. There could be some room for improvement here though. Perhaps as the managers reputation grows more players should be interested in playing for him, based solely on his reputation, regardless of the club (within reason).
A good real life example of this is when Roy Keane took over at Sunderland. Before Keane we'd always had trouble attracting players to the club. Apparently the shoppings not that good in Sunderland
But once Keane took over a lot more players were suddenly interested in at least opening talks with the manager about signing.
