Hi,
I have had this problem with several players, but for one it's very vivid.
I am a surprise promotion contender in L1. A young striker with high attributes is brought into the team. He scores marvellously for reserves, but can't find goal in league games. What is really behind this (which attribute, I mean?). I tend to think it'll pass with time, but want to know the real reason. His composure, bravery, finishing are quite high etc.
i have dalle valle wth is his name.. 16 (at start) sweden/italian attacking mid/striker.. he was playing in first team position from 17 years. and scoring just fine
It might be the simple fact that the pressure is getting to him. What do you say to him pre-match and at half time team talks? He might benefit being loaned out to another club to get some first team experience before he is thrust into the hustle and bustle of League 1 football :p
golfpunk - I say different things, but never that I expect him to win the game etc. I mean, his not scoring was so unbelievable...
But just a match ago he rallied the troops (hardly knowing English) and scored his first goal...
I've read a wonderful post by Armaroq concerning scoring problem (vicious circle of losing confidence), and I tend to agree with others that FM08 is not balanced in shooting department (was the same in other versions, but this time its too evident).
Its all based on current ability i've found. In my blyth spartans game - it was the first time i've tried lower league, and i found it extremely difficult finding the difference between quality lower league players and crap ones - I started using mini scout.
I've found that players with the greater ability, regardless of stats, perform better.
For instance, my best striker, consistently over the last 3 seasons, has been the one with the high current ability, but often the lowest finishing/composure/off the ball stats.
Wakers - I noticed something similar. I don't use any ingame tools, though, but it did surprise me, that people with irrelevant attributes scored much more consistently than those who should've.
But I'd rather not dwell on this (others did).
