Default Anyone successfully extended a loan?

I've brought in close to 30 players on loans in the six season I've been playing FM8, at least half of them on 3 month deals. I've yet to be able to extend any of the loans. Is it possible?

Just before the loan ends I get a reminder message giving me the option of applying for an extension. If I apply for another 2 or 3 months the club usually accepts but the player always refuses. I just put it down to experience until this last time. The player has me as his favourite club and described the initial loan as a dream move, its February, he and the team are doing well and yet he still refuses a two month extension after his club agreed to it. Then a week or so after his loan expires, I try to get him again on a new loan, just to see what happens, and he agrees. If I can't get an extension to a loan in these circumstances then when can I? Does this feature actually work?

I haven't had many problems if I apply to extend the loan early. Once you get the reminder and the option to renew they usually seem to return to their own club before a decision is even made and I end up having to rebid.

I think the reminder that a players loan is almost up comes to late to actually renew the deal before the previous one ends.

Tal_Hides: Thanks. I hadn't realised there was an option to extend before the reminder came up - that maybe explains it, I will have to hunt around for the option. Although if as you say, the reminder comes too late, then maybe SI should schedule it a bit earlier It sounds like I will now have to create my own pre-reminder reminder using a Note, which is a pain.

Dafuge: Thanks for your thoughtful input :p

I developed a habit from playing so many years in France that all my loanees are on loan 'till the end of the season. When I get the news asking to renew, if I want the guy back, I've asked for a renewal. A couple times the player will want to come back, a couple times he hasn't.

Understandable. I'd say it works the way I use it...

Got Scott Sinclair on loan at Aberdeen from my parent team Chelsea. He fitted in so perfectly, i renewed his loan 3 times (came in at the start of season 2 and stayed til the end of season 4). At the end of season 4, he (quite rightly TBF) decided he was far too good for me/the SPL and never came back.

He's now rotting away in the Chelsea reserves and i found a £200k replacement. **** him.
