The most fun i've ever had in the championship manager/football manager series has always been with lower league teams. My 3 best games ever:

CM01/02 With Oswestry Town in Wales. This was my best ever game. I got about 50 seasons in, and by the time I had manged to win the champions league 5 times. Without cheating - except i had to repair my teams fitness for the CL final because the season in Wales ends a month before.

FM 2006 With Doncaster Rovers - My local team. Took them up and up to the premier league, managed to come second and win the UEFA cup after 12 seasons. Thats as far as i got.

FM 2008 With Blyth Spartans. I'm into my 5th Season, in League 1. Free transfers definitely the way to go, picking up the freebies released by premier league clubs. Try and get a good parent team.

Also have to mention a game i had with River Plate but i can't remember if it was FM2005 or FM2006 - that lasted about 8 seasons.

I like to start with a non-top team in the top division of a non-top nation.

This gives me time to work up, the possibility of european competition, wich will help to attract players, and plenty of opportunities to fnd a new challeng when I've achieved all I can.

Am now on my 18th job (13th separate club)

I'll show NAC Breda they were wrong to sack me (or they'll show me they were right and sack me again)

So i tried being arsenal in prem.

I found it boring as i could litarally buy anyone i wanted and i could win nearly all the time ~(played 20 won 12 drew 6 lost 2).

I prefer to struggle at first and find real bargains and good older players who nobody else wants........

How does everybody else like to play the game?
actually im an arsenal fan and i wouldnt be happy with results like that. win the champs league 4 times then come back and say its too easy

I prefer to play with teams predicted to finish at the bottom (or so!)

Its better to be good with crap teams, than be bad with good ones....

My only attempt at LLM was so boring. It was too easy, I demolished all the other teams and it was going to be only a matter of time before I was in the Championship. I didn't have a huge squad, so I just signed greys and they were relatively good. I won the Conference North, only losing once, and got to the fifth round of the FA Cup, losing to Chelsea.
I was bored of winning everything, so I holidayed forward for the whole summer, and the same thing happened in the Conference! League 2 was harder, but I went up through the play-offs. I haven't been on that save for ages though. It was on 07, hence the "Conference" not BSP.

There is nothing more satisfying then taking your Eastern European hometown club and taking them to the top of the world's ranks.

I'm yet to win any major title or cup, but I'm having a fair amount of enjoyment.
