So, I have been playing with Rhyl for (3) seasons now and have had tons of success and about to start the 2010/2011 season. Unfortunately, the club is still semi-professional and I think hindering my chances to sign better players. I need to be a professional club. I have WWSM 2008, and there is no working editor for it, therefore I cannot change them to professional.

My question is, how long does it take to turn professional in Wales?

My League Stats are below as well as my Bank Balance.

2007/2008

Premier League: 2nd Place (Qualified for UEFA Cup)
Welsh Challenge Cup: Winners
Welsh Cup Semi-Finals
FAW Premier Cup: Quarter-Finals
UEFA Cup: 1st Qualifying Round

2008/2009

Premier League: 1st Place (Qualified for Champions League)

Good work mate...used to live in Wales and remember going to nearly every Bangor City home match during the glory years.

Actually during that time a friends son used to play for Rhyl his name was Tommy Mutton I think.

In ye Olde days, signing all your players and staff on full-time contracts would get your club to professional status during the summer period.

It is handled somewhat diffferently in FM08 though, i think. But it might still have some influence. So try that first.

I took Cwmbran Town to the top of that league for nigh on 15 years running, turned professional in 2020 ish.

your a semi prof club in a semi prof league

turning prof wont advance your club or help you attract better players

you cant advance to a higher league,so any better player you gather will move on very quickly

ScobieB: I appreciate the good woords...your right about Mutton. I remember him in older versions of the game, as I usually play with Rhyl at least once in every version of FM.

d0mbo07: I have had all of my first team players on F/T contracts since the my first season. I remembered that making a difference in previous seasons...but so far no luck.

psychocandy: Firstly, LLaneli and TNS are Professional teams in Wales. They are able to attract alot of talented players on Loan from Championship sides.

My reputation must be extremely good, because I have been offered positions at Toronto FC and Feyenoord (last season), but turned them both down. I am trying to make Rhyl and the entire Welsh league better. It sounds like an impossible task, but is actually quite fun. The only problem is I have grown the club fairly well in the past (3) years, but have no signs of seeing them turn PRO. That is the problem. I don't know if it is a bug with the DB, or if I have to get even more successes.

PS: In previous versions of the game, success such as what I have posted above would have ensured the club become PRO. Any other ideas? SI?

Again, to use my previous post in this thread:

That was on Fm07, and I had every player and member of staff on the payroll fulltime for a good 10 years of that period.

It is a random occurance, it simply must be, as Rhyl, Camarthen and Newtown all beat me to becoming a pro club despite their relatively poor positions.

Also, I had a fair bit of cash (around £8million) by the time they turned pro, maybe that helps?

Hmm...that seems a bit strange don't you think.

15 years straight winning titles and with 8million in the bank. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see if the Board have the ambition I do.
