Before I use a tactic I like to see how my team runs with it by going on holiday for a season. I created two tactics each with varying degrees of success. I started off by creating a tactic used for teams with good attacking capabilities a 3-3-3-1 and then based on this tactic I created a similar more defensive tactic a 3-2-3-1-1. To test the tactics out I took the teams predicted to finish first and second in the league and assigned them the tactic. The team predicted first assigned the more attacking tactic as they should have the better players. The squads were not upgraded at all and I want to get human managers as a lot depends on the assistant manager. Some of my best results have come from the defensive tactic have been getting the french team in Ligue 1 Orange predicted 20th to finish second and the spanish side almeria to finish 6th. With the attacking tactic I have won the FA; English, Germany, Belgium, Scottish French League Cups; Super cups and equivalent in Spain, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy, England, France and Portugal and won 5 different leagues.
Well the tactics is based on overloading midfield hence 6 people in it. This is because from my success in FM08 have come from my team winning the midfield battle. I feel 3 at the back is sufficient with a mc retreating dm for extra cover. The lone striker is supported by the amc in a free role and can also be supported by 2 wingers if using the attcking version.
