This is not really a cry for help or "do this" topic. I simply wanted to open discussion for these guys and how to get best out of them and because this is fairly new aspect of game for me I'm curious how other people use them.
Never before in my FM career have I really looked into using 190+ tall striker with great heading attributes ...
...so much I have missed! Yesterday I found this great regen kid who from France who is 18 years old, 198cm tall, most of his physical attributes 17-19, just natural fitness is 10. Also good attacking attributes to Championship with good finishing and dribbling, only downside on him is poor anticipation which hasn't slowed him down.
He also has preffered move "plays one-twos" which seems to be very important, he constantly puts himself and my teammates on great positions and on my first game I used him like target men are supposed to be used, I wont middlesboro away ( championship) 5-0 and he got 1 goals and 3 assists! It's toned down a lot now though, I just guess teams are getting more ready to handle him, although he's still pretty dominant. It's simply fun to see people hoof the ball on him and him flicking it on to create danger. Naturally I play him as target man and set focus on his head. Also I play him few ticks less attacking than hi parter.
Seems almost everytime his header is successful it creates a good scoring opportunity for me.
I just wanted to open discussion to see how many other people try to find themselves huge strikers and how do you play them? What type of striker is best partnered with him? I'm planning on getting another huge striker here just to see how it goes. Only I need to get better fullbacks, since I'm playing narrow diamond right now and there could be a lot more crosses them to head in.
Any tips would be appreciated, I'm by no means FM guru.
Also I don't have back up for him right now, so when he gets injured ( which he did right now...lol) that's end of that gamestyle because so much depends on him. I have to find backup for him right now if I wanna keep my promotion hopes us.
In FM07 I always used a target man with who had good jumping, heading and strength. I found it worked wonders in my tactic.
I'd have people playing it to his head, like you. I found that if you put a really fast striker next to him it was unstoppable (I had Walcott and Crouch in my Sunderland team and they were awsome).
I haven't tried using target men yet in FM08 as I've heard they don't work as effectively, and I'm playing as Man Utd atm so they haven't really got a player like that. I'll be giving it a try eventually though.

So far it's made huge difference to my game, so I'd say it's effective. I play victor moses ( who is ver yexplosive and quick, yet strong )now next to him, and these two give me endless of possibilities.
If my opponent can put my tall guy under control, I simply change Victor Moses as my target man, and set instruction "play to feet" ( he also has in his prefered moves 'play to feet'), and if they can handle my tall guy then they're down for surprise when I suddenly change my targetman to Moses and play to feet! So much fun to try these things, and even more fun when it works!
Yea i hade so much fun using a massive header in my 07 game. I had this guy Salvatore Foti, altough he overall stats werent so great, he was so massively big with 20 jumping + strenght and heading. I forced almost all my players to fire long balls @ him and I just looked and LAUGHED when he got those balls and head it over to my pacy striker. I laughed because he owned worldclass defenders so hard. Nesta, terry, bonera and cannavaro were some of many who became totally humiliated. Zigic is a perfect man for this kind of job, but if u don't have alot of money try S. Foti.
