At the moment we are successful, i feel we are performing as expected but feel i could get more out of my side.
I am dominating possesion but taking too many pot shots.
My formation is 4-2-3-1. My teams set up is one mid with barrow and def mentality and the other as a playmaker.
My att mid has attacking mentality TTB always and no long shots.
My two wingers forwards have forward side arrows to striker positions, they have att mentality and fwr dwb always.
My striker has att ment fwr runs dribble always. He is set to target man and box is ticked.
Passing is mixed and target man balls are mixed. Both midfielders and fullbacks hold up the ball. Passing is short 1 and slow tempo 4.
Has anyone got any suggestions? My att mid scores shed loads and my three fowards score a few but no where near enough. Ive tried various things to no avail. I feel i have a very strong formation but just cant score enough from free play.
u could be playin the wrong strike combination. What are your strikers stats?
General rule - FC/FC(No!), ST/ST(No!), FC/ST(Thats the one!).
It's usually best to have one striker that can play in positions other than upfront and one who is an out-and-out striker.
I suggest you go for the big/small combination. At least one of them should have a great deal of pace and one of them needs a high teamwork rating.
The main attributes you need for a consitent goalscorer in general are finishing, composure, off the ball and technique
If possible, a target man should have great teamwork and workrate stat, aswell as:
strength and first touch (if they are short) jumping & Heading (if they are tall)
That's all i can give you from what you've told me. I'm pretty much guessing what your problem might be tbh
whoops! sorry didn't see you formation. It would probably be easier if you posted a screenie, though in all honesty you should really be expecting to score that many goals with that particualr formation
i thought the problem may lie in my formation, but i have discounted this (possibly incorrectly) because:-
* dominate possesion
* create lots of chances
and so if i am creating chances i may not be putting them away beacuse of my strikers rushing their chances, but they are not, the tempo is right down
so i think i have the right formation and generally the right set up - i just need to find the killer instructions for my wingers/strikers and striker, to make this tactic better.
post the stats of your striker and wingers. it'd be alot easier to analyse. Maybe your striker is simply not good enough.
What i've noted from playing the game though, is that is usually best to keep all your striker instructions as "mixed". Whenever i seem to change these they don't play as well. Also, what are your target man instructions? If he's got good jumping and heading stats and is tall, set target man supply to "head". If he is slightlty smaller and very pacey, use "run onto ball". Good first touch and dribbling, use "to feet" and if he's good all round, "mixed" (like i said, it'd be easier if i could see the stats)
On the other hand, if you believe your team are good enough whay not untick the target man box? it may make you're team flow better
