I'm working out the player instructions to try to make a better lower league version. Lowering creativity 4 notches and closing down 3 notches seems to work better for lower league teams.
great job man, the tactic is great. I have won in English PL 6 games by 4 and more goals, also won against udinesey home and away in ECC. BUT, I have conceded a lot of goals I win my matches 5-4, 3-2,... etc.
So, any ideas for the back line??
Whats the speed of your back 4? I used to only sign cut and paste DC's, with high heading, positioning, jumping, strength. Now I tend to look for at least 14 or 15 acceleration first and foremost. Right now I'm playing as Leicester and my defense is pretty solid. My DC's are Leandro Gioda and Alaeddine Yahia.
Since players have higher closing down, the quicker they can close down the less likely the opponent will have time to make a good pass or shot.
Well, my defenders are pretty good, their speed is not less than 15 (Taylor & Lima) they are tough and strong, once they catch the striker they take the ball easly but the space or gap between them is pretty wide. so, fast strikers sometimes can run through them and score, and my keeper is kamini (cameroon) he is realy great and saving alot of dangerouse attacks
Lima is good, I played with Betis for 5 seasons and he was my DC for all 5. Taylor is a bit slow but great in all other stats. If your having troubles with pacey strikers might try moving Taylors closing down to 'own area' and move the defensive line back a bit. I can't think of much else to do that wouldn't effect the attack.
What's the thinking behind the slightly different instructions for the two SCs? The one on the right has lower mentality and has through balls often and higher closing down. Cheers.
You can switch them if you want. I put whichever forward has higher pace, not acceleration just pace, as the left striker. Palacio was my left striker so that was his settings. If your right striker is the faster of the two then you can swap them.
Basically the striker on the left will get more through balls and one on one chances on counter attacks. The striker on the right will still get plenty of chances on goal but hes more a setup man on counter attacks.
I started a new game as Leicester. I sold pretty much the entire team except campbell and hellings, netting 16.5m euros for transfers and then spent 12m for a new team/staff. I used the same default tactic as I posted above and went on a 17 game win streak including beating Aston Villa & Man City in the Carling Cup. It all ended though with a 1-1 draw to Burnley, due to a current injury crisis. Either way this is the best success I have had in FM08 so far, with 52 goals for, 10 goals against.
