Sheff Utd End of Season Report (MacSolid 5-3-2. It works)
The long, arduous Championship season has drawn to a close and its been a superb debutant season for Ivor Biggun and his Sheffield Utd team, breaking the 100pt barrier and sitting pretty on top of the pile throughout!!!
Championship Final Standings
I stuck with my own MacSolid 5-3-2 formation throughout the whole season (home and away) with no tweaking (apart from increasing the attacking mentality of the whole team if necessary)
Tactics Screen (favourite team selection)
I also used the corner settings described in the 'Art of corners....finally post' which worked very well as i topped the goals from corners charts with 12 goals scored (Kilgallon scoring 8 of those!)
Corner Tactics
Goals From Corners
I made full use of the transfer windows (being the most active in both) and risked the financial stability of the club (banking on promotion) by selling players with relatively large chunks of money coming through 18/24 monthly payments. Which increases your transfer budget without having the money in the bank!
I made quite a few signings that would not be able to feature for me that season
Jozy Altidore (Work Permit)
Marvin Angulo (Work Permit)
Nikita Andrejev (Work Permit)
Anton Putilo (Work Permit)
Yessu Cabrera (To young to move/WP)
Cristian Nazarith (To young to move/WP)
Lulinha (To young to move)
All the players with work permit problems are/ or will be loaned to my feeder team in Belgium, WS Woluwe, so by the time they're elligible they should be ready for the Premiership. Lulinha, however, secured a work permit and will be ready to join the side for the next campaign
Out of my signings Dan Alexa was probably the most succesfull as he was a DM i thought could fill my problem area in the middle of the CB's and he did it without any problems. He should continue to improve as he finish's his positional retraining.
Rade Prica, IMO, would of been player of the season but he joined in January limiting his time a the club and the accolade actually fell to Billy Sharp. Some of my signings have failed to impress me however, such as Dzsudzsak, Mihelic and Gosling and they're facing the prospect of being backup players next season.
Billy Sharp
Rade Prica
Matthew Kilgallon
Nick Montgomery
My standing in the game seemed to sky rocket as soon as promotion had been confirmed (with six games remaining!) rating me as a World Class manager at this early stage in my career (a liitle excessive i feel, but i'm not about to complain )
Manager Information
Theres been talk of me being hot favourite to take over at Man Utd which is causing me concern as i would like to see if i can survive with my boys in the prem, but how can you turn down utd??
I've got a lot of work to do with the big boys of the premiership waiting round the corner. Having secured the services of Lulinha and moments ago capturing Luis Jimenez for 3mill (looks a bargain!!) i feel in need to improve the following positions
DC
DC/DMC
MC
WBL
WBR
TS
My main concern is that my defenders won't survive in the premiership so i'll be looking to improve there first.
I haven't received much feedback so far and I hope this post convinces people to try my tactic.
Oh feah forgot to mention i received a touchline ban for bitchin about a penalty in the last game of the season against Leicester. This obviously carried over to my first game in the prem, guess who it was against........Man Utd
But then this happened
Absolutely Brilliant!!!
Signings made for the premiership season BTW
Lulinha @425K
Luis Jimenez @3mill
Gael Katuka @300k
Carlos Vela (on loan)
Matteo Ferrari (free transfer)
Matt Taylor @4.5mill
Ryan Taylor @7mill
Cristian Nazarith @250k
Gianluca Pegolo @2.4mill

Sheff Utd End of Season Report (MacSolid 5-3-2. It works) Post #4
Just had my second game in the prem, beat blackburn 2-0. So far so good but its away to chelsea next!!
I don't think this tactic will work brilliantly if you swap tactics mid season, needs time to bed in because its so different from the normal 4-4-2, BTW
