Couldn't agree more with this...Coupled with the fact that no matter what you do the AI can pretty much gurantee a goal by going 424...
The question is, will anyone try and improve it ?

Ok...if it's opinions, wouldn't it be better for you guys to open this thread in the general discussion then open one here? Leave this forum for those peeps who really need tactical help. |

Seems like there are a few others feeling and observing the same as I do.
Did anyone watch Newcastle - Arsenal monday night? For pretty much the whole second half Newcastle forced Arsenal backwards by playing direct and closing down heavily. If you try such aproach in FM you are severly punished game after game. Arsenal where not able to punish Newcastle. This might have been different on anothoer day, but not in FM. The AI is far to "intelligent" to let you do that, whatever league you play.
Totally agree with theboss332. Attributes don't seem to be very important for AI teams.
Same for tactics. The AI is far to good at changing tactics and playingstyle throughout a match, and the team is able to utilize the styles as well. This is not the case for human controlled teams. If you choose a shortpassing approach, and then try to change to a more direct style throughout a match, the team will not respond in the way the AI does. I've rarley seen a change of style give my teams succsess. A bit like in the real world. It's not often you see a team change style completly thorughout a match. Most teams try to specialize in one style of play.

Out of 6 games today, opponent has scored on their first shot in 5 games.
The amount of throughballs finding their way through my teams defence is horrendous. If the AI can't play over the top, they play tb's through my defence like water goes through a sieve. Absolutley no closing down at all. Everyone drops down into the box and just stands there. No matter what settings I use, there is no closing down.
I've stopped using ttb's because I assumed that playing in the lower leagues, this would just be like giving the ball to the opponent, and it is. But not for the AI. The situation my team failes in, the AI succeeds in.
It has become more difficult to punish the AI, and more easy for the AI to punish you.

Agree with a couple of the previous posters.
I don't like how the AI changes its tactics so easily during a match, going from one extreme to another is very unrealistic.
Also the short passing throughballs by the AI are very difficult to combat.
I start the game playing against a team that likes to counter, i score, they completely change their tactics and start playing like a well oiled machine. Short passing and incredible throughballs that, as mentioned above, my defenders just stand and watch.
Very boring.
And my goodness if i give up a goal in a game through controversy, i.e. a missed offside or a penalty, and its mentioned in the commentary, forget it. Game over.
If that happens i know i will lose doesn't matter when in the game it occurs. That way we get the silly 'controversy in game' media report following the loss.
Similarly if i get a suspicious goal i know i will win for the same reason, means the opposition gets the media report.
Boring.
Had some success with moving the d-line up higher when facing the throughball attack, maybe that will help.
Won't comment on all the other issues that most are aware of or have been talked about.

| Do you mean the throughball thing? Or closing down?
Just to repeat a common scenario, I've just played a game were the oponent scored on their two first chances. I play in the championship and have got a defenders wanted by premier league teams. Same thing for my keeper. They've got the esential attributes to bee good defenders.
If someone have got a link to a good thread about closing down I'll be greatfull. Have tried to search, but have not found anything "new". Would also like to read more about the thread topic "one shot, one goal...".
