Default new to CS3, Combinding shapes issue

I recently got CS3 and damn what a diffrence. Also it's be a few months since I used one of the original photoshops. I was try to make a triangle within a triangle but I can't get them both on the same layer I guess? What do I do to have all my shapes on the same layer, or just visible together?

Welcome. 8))

To add a shape to the same layer, make sure you have the Add to shape area selected. The downside of having all shapes on the same layer is that you have less control (there are a few exceptions). Putting multiple shape layers inside a group is depending on the situation often a better solution.
