Default urgh... batch imaging problem

I have 1400 headshots that need cropping. I would use a normal photoshop action to do this if they were all the same size... unfortunately they are of differing sizes/sources and need to be cropped tight to head. My first thought was image recognition software or something... anyone have any ideas before I dive into a fun, manual editting process? ;>
Thanks,
Peter
PS perhaps there is an action sequence Im not considering??? [confused]

Welcome pedromw 8))

Sadly the manual approach is the only approach that will deliver success. I know.. it's a lot of work, but don't you have someone who can help? What kind of a project is it if I may ask?
