I always start with a mid lge team ie my team swindon town, or Nantes. I try to be a team that is a big team for the lge its in especially as I am not that experienced yet with fm2008 yet.
I feel there is a lack of mid lge manager managers and threads here. people mostly are boring and start with Manu Ars Barca ect. or they manage lower lge teams.
For me it defeats the purpose and enjoyment if you start with a massive club. If I go on I will offend people.
However lower lge teams take so long to get up through the lgs I end up getting bored and start again.
All this thread is for is to have a discussion with like minded managers to discuss players and clubs and difficulties we have come across.
I have managed Bologna in serie B and bought many Romanians who are technically gifted however are not real match winners. Marcelino (wolfsburg) and Buzzegoli (Pisa) are both excellent players that can be picked up for 1-2 mill and 80k respectively.
At the moment I am at Nantes. I'm expected to win the lge and I am 13th! I have tried many of the tactics here such as Lu cja? The winning and Nuneaten.... Its November and I need a change in fortune. My team should be at least Mid lge 1 not 2.
I find that challenge interesting, for sure. Nantes, Bari, Watford (for the money, mostly), Koln, Kaiserslautern, Brescia, Bologna, Chievo etc, etc, lots of teams come to mind. Definitely interesting.
lol Mr Weaver funny you should mention Chievo the wife and I watched them 2-3 years ago very strange to be in the ground that would hold I suppose 30-40 k and only 4-5000 fans turn up felt like a reserve match. Ooh Koln yes I may try them they are lge 2 with that great ground I almost went to watch them as I played Rugby down there (long story I live in Ger)
Chievo, yes... I tried them last year mainly because they were almost full of domestic players... but even when they were in Serie A, hellas Verona was still the main team in the town of Romeo and Juliet,hehe...
I can't remember how many times I've told my wife "Sorry honey, it's FM time."
I'll only give the game a rest when I actually catch myself uttering "Sorry FM, it's wife time" to my monitor.
