Firstly, hello to all. Been playing since Champ Man 97/98 on the Amiga! Been some gaps in between but like a moth to a light find myself with the latest copy of SI's installments.
Secondly, my question which is quite the concern.
Although I've been to see the Irons and the O's, I'm probably more of a neutral which makes an easy choice for me at the beginning of every game as I start unemployed every time. When I started my first game on FM08 I started off taking over Shelbourne in the Irish 1st Div, got myself sacked after 3 1/4's of a season and finally ended up at Blue Square Norths Alfreton. Things started dismally after not playing since FM05 and even then not really getting into it. I've then gone through the forums and managed to pick up fragments of information on how to employ tactics and play the game better so I decided on a fresh start.
As the game had been running fine, I opened up a couple more leagues and started unemployed again, this time I was snapped up after a few months with a team in Italy. I didn't like it. Every player had stats above 10 in almost every attribute and it seemed their value and AssMan's views are the only things that seperated the quality of the players for me.
My concern is that if I ever get any good at this game and start acheiving promotion, etc. Am I gonna stop enjoying it? I love having to balance the books, trying to bolster the team with meagre freebies, using my scouts report cards as my only guides, working closely with my AssMan, organising friendlies with top clubs and feeling as wealthy as a king when they play a home friendly against us.
Or am I just being a tw*t and should just get on with it? *
