Here is a thought I've been having since I started playing FM (and I think it may be particularly interesting for llamas):
I noticed that often times manager wages get reduced from the first contract (e.g. start the game) to the next - unless the team starts cashing in lots of money. Now, at some point I start to wonder whether the game should keep track of your savings or whether you are making more or less money.
To stretch this idea further - if one actually makes it to the top flight (wherever that may be), and starts accumulating say more than $100/w , wouldn't it be nice to build a new team from scratch (or buy one?) -which of course would have to start at the bottom tier. This may be stretching the game, however I think it would be cool and encouraging to all of a sudden be able to name a team, design the kit, build a stadium etc... I am completely off?
However, in real life, how often does it happen that new teams come to life? I know that in Mexico for example, new teams are allowed to be created in the lower division - there is minimum amount of money required in the bank account and a bunch of paperwork, but it all looks pretty straightforward (but doesn't happen often). In a highly-structured system like England, it may be tougher to create a team from scratch these days (perhaps?).
Ok, maybe it is too late... I am just trying to generate discussion on what the next step could be for LLM-dom in FM.
LLM is about realism. The Lowest divisions in most of the leagues in FM are still not the lowest divisions in real life, so your suggestion wouldnt work, as there are feeder leagues to most of the leagues in FM. So clubs don't spontaneously spawn without the aid of the spawn of satan (the editor) and we really dont want to go there.
You're way off in the context of FM. New teams can't be created and put into the leagues we're playing - not even England where we have quite many tiers.
In RL of course, new teams are created from time to time. The most famous is probably AFC Wimbledon, who have done astonishingly well btw. If they manage to win this year (I doubt it) they'll get into the Conference South. Not bad for a team created only a few years ago.
This idea is suggested regularly in GQ and it's a rubbish idea each and every time.
If I've managed a team long enough to get it to the top flight, it's basically my team anyway. Who cares whether I get to call it 'Turnip FC' and make the logo a rather fetching tuber?
The lowest leagues are far lower than the Conference N/S (or whatever) and parachuting a club in at that level is unrealistic to say the very least.
after reading my posting again, I cannot agree with you guys more... But thanks for the input! I find it odd that this subject comes up in a different forum (this is the only one I hang out), here I thought I was the only one with crappy, wacky ideas... Turnip It is your team, until you get sacked... you gotta love this game!!
Craig (or another Mod)
could we close this thread? I think the horse has been beaten to death, and it seems like a foolish thing to discuss here now...
