I'm just messing around with the game, waiting for the proper patch to come out. Once it does I intend to try the LLM route.
Anyway, I was wondering what the LLM view is on the "allow transfers in first window" option. Obviously in the game you get a squad which has already done all it's pre-transfer window activity, so is it more realistic to turn this off?
When I start a game at a certain date, RL is at that date thrown out of the window. I don't see any reason therefore why clubs couldn't do transfers if they are still in transferwindow.
If you are saying clubs should make transfers in the windows like they do in real life then yes, yes they should and you should as well.
If however you are asking if you should turn on the option to allow you to make transfers outside the window for the first however many months in the year than no, no you should not.

Not sure if I understand your answer either
My understanding of the option (although I haven't looked that closely) was turning it off mean't that clubs couldn't complete any transfers at the start of your first season before the window closes (i.e Aug 31st). The rational being that the game already includes all that clubs transfer activity in the squad you have for that period of time.
Therefore I assumed turning the ability to make these signings "on" in the game might be considered unrealistic, and therefore against the principles of LLM.
Come to think of it, do they use the transfer window in the lower leagues??
I think I know where you're going. It's October now, so the real-life transfer deadline has passed. Thus one can tick that (or untick, whatever is right) so no transfers can be made in the first window. Then all teams are as they are in real-life.
However, as we play as realistically as possible within each savegame, that is an option that makes it unrealistic. When we are in July and August we should be able to buy players.
Come to think of it, this is a non-issue for us. At least in England. Lower-league clubs are allowed to make transfers throughout the year, which makes that option even more unrealistic.

Yes, that's what I was getting at, and it sounds like it's irrelvant in England. I wonder about other countries though?
France National league has the usual July/August transfer window. After September 1st the "Joker transfer window" opens. Clubs can buy 1 player in the period between Sept. 1st and somewhere in December. There are limitations iirc, but I haven't signed anyone in that joker period. Maybe it was something about replacing an injured player.
I think it is realistic, and I was going to raise the issue.
What this new tick-box does is make it so that in the July/August transfer window at the start of the game it is not possible to but players for your team, nor is it possible for the AI to buy players for their teams. Therefore, you have to start your season with the same ***** that the real team have until January, or in some Leagues, until September 1st.
Since all the player lists I believe are confirmed on September 1st IRL, then this should add that etra touch of realism and challenge. I started like that with Pau in the French National, and was only able to add to my ***** with unattatched players, and one 'Joker' player.
'Tis a good idea, and, I believe, should be added to the LLM ethos.

Thanks, that was what I was trying to say, but you explained it much better than my original post
