Hi, just a thread about my first experience with the new FM. Would love to hear similar stories!

Scouring through the lower echelons of English Football, I came across a team worth just £22k - Solihull Moors. I thought it would be a nice challenge to take charge of the poorest English club playable. The board wanted me to uphold the teams honour in the Blue Sqaure Premier North - basically saying your going to get relegated, but just make sure you don't get dicked 5-0 every game!

Anyway, I brought in 2 new coaches, and set up a link with parent team Aston Villa. They promptly accepted my offers for 5 of their players, which bolstered my small squad. I lost every pre-season friendly, at which point I was considering just quitting! I was 5000-1 to get promoted, and looking at pre match odds for the first games of the season I knew it would be impossible - 15-1, 12-1, 20-1. However, I thought I would see how they got on in our first game away vs Tamworth, who were one of the favourites for promotion, and 1-6 on to win...

They lead 1-0 at ht, my key player - formerly of Spurs and Everton was injured aswell. 2nd half started, and 2 mins in to it, they had a player sent off! Straight away I pushed another man up front, and we won 2-1. Since then we have been on form for most of the season, winning home and away, against all expectations. Although dumped out of both the FA Trophy and Setanta Shield at the 1st hurdle, I finished the season 3rd - playoffs.

I encountered Gainsborough in the playoffs, I lost 2-1 at home in the 1st leg. However a screamer, and a lucky penalty ensured a 2-0 victory away from home. I was through to the final! I played against Kettering Town. The game was a boring one, 0-0 all the way. Until the final 2 mins I got a freekick, and that man struck a 30 yard thunderbolt! Promotion! What a season! Average attendance of over 900 for a Blue Square Premier North Team aswell.

I couldn't believe it, especially after being 5000-1 to get promoted. Any other stories like this, or similar? I would love to read them!

Not sure your going to get much support for your efforts considering your breaking not only the forum rules (player naming) but also a few of the LLM rules (3 season rule on updates, parent clubs are a tetchy subject, etc, etc.)

Good job on the promotion but maybe a bit of soul searching over bringing in prem. quality reserves to bolster your squad.

There are loads of updates detailing our highs & lows but no full on stories.

Have a read of the stickies & some of the update threads to get an idea about LLM & this forum.

Just thought it would be interesting to hear other peoples experiences. If this is not a place for sharing experiences in freedom, then its not a place for me. Sorry for breaking the rules.

Have a look around before you give up on LLM, we do share our experiences just in a slightly different way.

We can share experiences, without player naming and remembering that we have a 3 season update rule for a reason.
