Default Transfer list

I may have imagined this, so apologies in advance if I'm mistaken.

I'm sure I read somewhere within this forum that it's acceptable within LLM to use the transfer list to find players, as long as they've been given the once over by your scout. The reason being that apparently such a list does actually exist in real life.

Is this so? And I take it this is somewhere seperate to the player search screen?

Personally I don't use the transfer list. I let my scouts do what they are paid for and that's finding me players and checking out if they are any good or not.

The answer is no. Scouts have to find players, the transfer list is out of bonds no matter the circumstances.

There are exceptions to "scouts only" though. For example, in the pre-match reports there is often mentioned a 'dangerman'. I sometimes let my scouts check him out, as his name was dropped to me anyway.

If a player has run rings around your players for several games, played fantastic and so on, so it's likely you would really pay attention to him, it's okay to send your scouts to check him out, despite them not having found out about him before.

You of course can't buy any players without the scouts checking them out a few times. I usually let my scouts check them at least 3 times, usually 5+.

Kev,

You did not imagine it, so no worries. In a thread a while back I believe it was briefly discussed, and no concrete answer was given, so personally I just avoid the search screen altogether, as Craig and Pangea have said. The other points that Pangea brought up also makes sense if you have any more questions.

And, I hope you don't mind if I hijack the thread with a question of my own. This is basically an add on to Pangea's "exceptions". Is it wrong to check out who, for instance, the top scorer in a particular league was for a season, and asking your scouts to look him over? I mean, IRL, there would be news about who a top scorer is, so would it be realistic to send a scout to look at him? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

****'s sake, does no-one ever read the Guidelines Thread?

Quote:
The Search Screen.

Some LLaMa’s use the search screen to shortlist players in their area and then send off their scouts to find out how good a player he really is. Other more zealous LLaMas avoid this screen entirely letting their scout do the job for which he was hired ie: finding players. Signing “known” players is a big no no. Known players are ones that are known to you through outside influences, or have been signed and performed well for you in previous games of CM. Regardless of what you tendency is with the Search Screen, no player should ever be signed unless he is first given the once over by one of your scouts.

The Transfer Screen.

Stricter LLaMas would never attempt to sign players purely based on the fact they appear as freed in the screen that lists all transfers Worldwide as such a list does not exist in real life. It’s possible to find out such information in the Press, online, etc., but a real life manager doesn’t have access to a transfer screen.

Less scrupulous LLaMas use the screen by identifying freed players and sending their scouts to watch them, signing them or otherwise based on the scouts’ recommendations.
In black and white.

Wait a second,

Does anyone really know how a scout (and the scouting system) really opperates? Whenever a club signs a scout, this person is probably not showing up empty handed, but has already a list of players that he (and unlikely she) knows about... unless it is a completely new employee to football... No?

I am not trying to argue for using the player search screen (I don't use it), however, I am just trying to figure out how it all works in reality...

BluMoon...I actually looked at the date on your post, I couldn't believe you asked that question currently.

Any player highlighted in a Media Report is fair game for scouting.

[edit]Realism dictates which players from which leagues you'd scout without media reports.

Do you actually play FM, Sancho?

The game assumes personal knowledge imparted by every member of staff at any given team.

alas!
I skipped FM07 and did not play it. In FM06, scouts were not that capable (or developed) in the game. I just got FM08, but have not been able to use it yet.

But this is good news Ian, I see how Sega has revamped the game, although from the other postings there is still need for a patch?

Sorry, Ian!

I thought I'd seen it written somewhere, but couldn't remember 200%. Just figured I'd ask.
