FM2008m - LLM exploit: making millions that needs stopping
Thought I should bring this here..it'll affect you lot the most. And being an LLM player myself its already affecting me.
I was managing Cambridge United in the conference. After a couple of weeks I noticed several things:
a. My reserve teams always seem to be in bad shape
b. My reserve teams have NO fixtures
c. When my first teamers get injured, sending them to the reserves for match fitness will naturally make things worse
So I tried an experiement, I started arranging cup tournaments with Spanish B sides who coincidentally don't have fixtures too. I don't know how far this transcends but appears to be a huge issue in my book.
After setting up 1 tournament I invited Barca B, Real Madrid B and Valencia B to a tournament against my Cambridge reserves side. We made 500k. We didn't do too badly as well, conceding only 4 goals in 3 games. ahem.
I repeated this between November and January thats all the reserves were doing, in 2 months we had a profit of 1 MILLION. Now for me thats' a major no-no.
The reason I'm bringing this here is cos it will affect all of you. Those who are playing with sides that have reserves without a reserve competition.
The debate then is how should this be handled.
Its does appear to some extent realistic. I mean I should have the option of having reserve matches, and there are teams in the conference who do not take part in the Reserve leagues. So what happens then in such cases.....i leave this with my intrepid friends..in LLM.
I do wanna return here, its been years since my last post. Perhaps if you guys look at all the small leagues you're playing in and if you spot an issue..then if you could look at the implications I'm sure between the mods and yourselves we should be able to bring more light to this matter.
I've already reported this as an issue, but I kinda want to raise the stink level if you know what I mean. Anything bad for LLM games is a major no-no for me

yeah...friendlies only get arranged for the first team through the assman..not for the reserves...it is a possible workaround, but it'll need to be coded.

I'm not aware of any LLaMa who'd be inviting those sorts of teams for their reserve team friendlies if I'm honest with you, so unlikely to affect any of us.
My reserves get to play my U18s every week, lucky them.

In 07 there used to be an issue for one season with newly-promoted teams entering the bottom division with a reserve team that played no matches. I had a Gateshead save where the reserve and youth squads had nothing to do in their first year.
But after the first year, when the season rolled over, both reserve teams were placed in the appropriate leagues and everything worked as normal from then on in. No idea if the same thing still happens in 08, but it's something to look into for sure.

I have encountered this in FM06; I thought it was a bug - the fact that reserves (and the younger team if there is one) do not have friendlies arranged, even if you ask your AssMan to take care of that. I had to schedule weekly matches for both squads to make sure the players improved and were fit if called to the spotlight. I didn't know it wasn't a bug....
Even friendlies for the first team were often not scheduled. This was the case for non-standard leagues like Ukraine, where friendlies would be arranged and then immediately cancelled, so I had to arrange the friendlies.
My point is this, this problem is nothing new. So I am not sure if it would be an easy coding fix or would need a major revamp...

To be honest, if my stiffs don't have fixtures, then I'd assume that's my cue to not fill the reserve squad up with players. I've played LLM in Portugal a lot and there are times I actually find I prefer just having a first team and a youth team anyway.
