I always use the same amount of leagues, that is 7 or 8 european leagues, Brazil, Argentina and one each of every other continent. Things seem to go a lot quicker in FM 2008 but my memory is suspect, seeing as my last two saves lasted about 25 years each, so they were really slow at the end...
Saving and loading is definitely a lot faster, not sure about in-game processing time.
My impression is that it's faster, but it's hard to tell without a direct comparison (same amount of leagues on holiday or something).
I only picked English and Norwegian leagues this time, as I hadn't planned to get hooked on this 'test' game. But there we are..
If future patches are not save-game compatible, it will perhaps be the excuse I need to add more leagues. Usually end up only playing in England anyway, so no point really.
To elaborate more, and to be fair I haven't really delved in yet, I'm running all leagues from Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Rep., Ukraine, Russia, Greece, Poland, Belarus and Australia.
A fair bit yes but comparable to my long running 07 save in England and it doesn't seem to be as nippy. Anyway I'll probably start a new save and shave off a few nations.
FM08 feels faster in all ways. I tried it on my old laptop, which is steam powered, and it felt quicker in processing and saving. The new laptop is significantly faster so is running quicker still.
Currently 2.5 seasons in and I've not seen the inevitable save slowdown that would have me pressing save in fm07 and then going to do the washing up, having a shower, brushing my teeth, only to come back and see it still going.
This is kind of a good and bad thing, come to think about it
