There are 459 unemployed scouts in England in my game at this moment...

I haven't checked how many there are, as I have not yet gone to the staff search screen.
However, I am fairly confident that if I filter for interested scouts, there will be plenty.
If this is the case, and yet none are responding to my advert, this points to a bug in the job centre, and so in my view that forces my hand a little.
Like I said, I am only considering this due to what I believe are extreme circumstances.

If you really can't find a scout, then I would say there's nothing wrong with using the staff search screen.

| Hmm. My personal pet theory is a relative division reputation as a factor of the league in a given country one. From my limited experience it seems to have been the leagues with the most divisions that suffer it the worst - England, Sweden, Italy, for instance - while 2 division leagues like the eastern European ones seem to be OK, more or less. I wonder if there's not a relative club/division rep cut-off for applicants which is less of a factor where clubs are, in their own national terms, and compared to the scouts available to that nationality, reasonably high up the pyramid, but hits hard when you're at the arse end of a 4-6 division league whose overall reputation is very high.
In effect, I wonder if a nation's scouts aren't a little too inclined to wait for the equivalent a L1 or L2 job to come along (as it were) rather than apply for an ECN one; fine if your lowest playable national league is the equivalent of L1 or L2, not so fine if it's not.

Rourke, I think you may very well have hit the nail on the head. I've not experienced an issue, but that's likely due to my managing in Serbia, which has only two leagues. I'm sure that if I were in England/Italy/Sweden/etc, as you suggested, there would be a problem.
Would it be smart for everyone to tell which league their in and whether they've had any difficulties?

Took me 8 months to get any replies, and then I got 10 in one week. All of them were the epitome of carp scout, I think a blind, deaf monkey would do a better job.

In real life, I would say that most of the Swedish LLM-teams do not have any scouts at all. My team, Västerås SK, has none at least. Our chairman is doubling as scout, as is the ass man and manager.
Not sure how to model this in game though....

Ok, large db, and managing in Jockland, first weeks response to scout advet gave 9 applicants, offered the one with more than a rating of 1 for judging ability/potential, but left ad running for another week.
Second week a further 12 applicants, just as bad stats, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of interest shown.

That quote makes it look like I'm "managing" i.e doing ok, when in reality that's far from the case.
TBH, even "managing" as in management of the club, seems a bit of a false claim. |
