True, it makes it harder for me when I don't loan in players or have parent teams, as many others are. It also means it will be easier for me if I choose to rely on loans and parent clubs. I've chosen to build my own team with my own players instead, as that is the kind of manager I am. Don't want to do well with other teams' players, and even on their wages.
One could easily argue it's not realistic, but it's a choice I have taken. I have lent players in the past, but only when I desperately need them and my scouts have no suggestions.
At leas in the current save scouts have uncovered plenty of good enough freebies, so it's not an issue. The problem is I usually get in too many players in the beginning. So when I later get in players who can actually kick a ball, I can't get rid of the shoe-shiners
