Would it be possible to have one of you post some opinions on tactics for lower league teams on the tactics forum?
I always feel rather humbled when open this forum. I've tried Lower league managing a couple of times only to find out that I'm not cut out for it. I honestly just cann't understand how you do it.
I have however started a game with my good old hometown team, RoPS, which is quite a small team in the Finnish First Division. I intend (or well, I have to) to use player searches and such, so it's not really the LLM style.
At the moment I'm struggling with my away tactics. The tactics forum has a lot of information available, but, unfortunately, most of it is for big club with quality players. This is why I need YOUR help. You obviously know how to make the tactic win the games for you. Any chance you might share some of that konwledge, maybe in the tactics forum so it won't clash with the rules here.

NO!
Read the header. We don't do tips in any way, shape or form.
We want to learn from our own mistakes. It's a lot more fun when you finally succeed. Anybody can download a tactic and training regime and start winning by buying whoever's cheapest for quality. We don't want a walkthrough guide for how to play the game, we want to play the game.
As others have said, you won't find any tips here. It's not that the people here are unhelpfull, but we feel that giving advice ruins the game for other people. You can see FM like a brainteaser you have to crack. The fun isn't in the result, it's in finding a way to solve it.
So do yourself a favour and ditch the T&T and GPTG forums. This is a fun forum to hang out, and the best part about it is: There is always someone who is more crap than you.
I, for instance, haven't had a team promoted since 2005, and I relegated a fair number of them (even title candidates). Sure it's frustrating, but when I eventually promote a team it's going to be one hell of a party. And I will have done it all by myself.
In the end it's your game, and you can play however you want. But for me LLM is the most rewarding and I'm sure you'll like it too.
(dammit, a user who can type in full sentences, with capitals and punctuation, I'm not letting him go without a fight.)
Cheers everyone. I really do appreciate your replies, even though they're not really the magical answers I wanted.
I understand it's against the rules of the LLM forum and I did, in fact, read the header before I posted my message. That's why I tried to stress that you'd be tipping other people in the tactics forum, whose gaming experience does not suffer from your tips but instead might even be improved by them.
But trust me, I know how you feel. Even I can't ignore the stench of hypocracy in that. I just figured, "It doesn't hurt to ask, right?"
The thing is, as I said I've tried the LLM style a couple of times, and I just can't stick with it. I have about a billion other things, living and non, that take my time, so I can't really spend that much of it tinkering with tactics. I do like to download tactics, God forbid, and learn from them. I usually play with tactics I've put together by improving, or at least altering, other people's tactics.
In other words, even though I enjoy figurign some of it out myself and thus feeling the joy of earning every goal and victory, I need some shoulders to stand on.
I figured, and I know this will sound like such an arse frenchie, your shoulders would be the highest to stand on when playing with a low quality team. It just kills me to know that you guys have all this knowledge and it's for you and you alone. I guess I'm just the wrong kind of idealist.
I want to finish by saying, as I've said so many times before, that I understand why you want to keep this clean. I don't blame you for doing so, even if it means that you have to say 'no' to me.
P.s. Okay, so this is the real finish then. Just think about it. None of you really like to read the tactics forum, right? And all the guys that do read the tactics column like downloading tactics, right? Maybe one of you, or a number of you, might secretly, anonymously, accidentally even, post one tactic on the forum and just leave it there. It'll find it's users. It'd be like leaving money on the alley that homeless people live in. I understand why wouldn't, but I'd also understand why you would.
Loath, I am comfortable with this amount of tipping:
There is no such thing as a standard tactic that works for all LL teams and makes them win magically. The more terrible the team, the more likely they'll lose and it's that simple.
LLM, certainly the first season in my experience, is about survival, hoping you can get some better players in, or even some staff, without going bust and without getting relegated.
If you manage to do that, you're already doing better than most, because we are carp, we know we are carp and we are proud of being carp or at least we're resigned to being carp.
The only thing you could envy about our manager skills is the ability to take it on the chin and start yet another doomed save.
It's that very rare once in a blue moon save that actually sees a team survive and even get promoted and eventually even winning prizes that makes playing the LLM way so much more sweet than knowing that you have somehow gained an advantage you shouldn't have, that you realistically wouldn't have had, if it were Real Lifeā¢.
Very eloquently put, but a complete waste of time I think I'm correct in saying. You say you'd understand why people would post a tactic? You're the only one who would.
It's just not the mindset of the people here (I guess I shouldn't speak for everyone, but I feel I'm on pretty safe ground on this occasion.)
Good luck in your game all the same though. (Well when I say your game.... sorry couldn't resist)
