You seem to think we're some kind of tactical geniuses. Most of us are just as crap as you say you are! Why don't you just try starting from one of the game's default tactics, instead of a downloaded one, as is an usual LLM way?
And remember, our tactics are designed for relegation, so you wouldn't want them |

Loath, most of the tactics presented in the T&T-Forum work well because they exploit the game engine (since every game engine has its weaknesses).
In LLM, we don't look to exploit things. We want to play as realistically as the game allows. This concludes finding your own tactics.
You are stating that you don't have time to fiddle around a lot with your tactics. Well, I can give you this hint: LLM tactics usually aren't very complex. With the level of players we're talking about, the players won't understand a lot more than the general instructions and maybe one or two individual instructions.
Just check out the player material and decide on a certain style of play. Adapt your tactics to suit that style. Do you want to use long ball? Do you want to use hard working? Do you want to specialize on corners from anywhere?
Just decide on one of the many options and focus on it. Only the big teams can manage to strive for perfection in many areas, but for lower leagues, one area is already more than plenty. If you decided for your playing style, choose the players that you think are suited for it. (Or, if you have good players, think about picking a tactic that is suited to the players). Sign players that fit well with the tactics chosen. Keep the players that are important.
Basically, it's a couple of general rules and common sense, and if properly employed, anyone is capable of creating a tactic that will finally work. It really doesn't have to be complex. A (tweaked) default formation is just fine.
I hope, you'll enjoy your game.

ok, lets try an analogy...
LLM "way" as you say is not a "style", like the styles you have in surfing... You don't [B]try[\B] "the LLM style".
If you don't have the time to play the game, well don't play it. Don't complain about this fact; we have no pity on you. Also, don't like the way you criticize French people and how you assume you know how we play.
sorry... must go superstylin' my LLM-ness...

Brazilian State League tactics for the beginner.
Stay on that rectangle of grass/mud, kick anything that moves and if it stops moving kick it again.
The showers are for washing off our opponents blood, don't waste water!
Feel free to c&p that in the tactics forum, I will not be visiting.

Really, though, Loath. LLM is the last place you'd like to ask for tactics advice, for two strong reasons.
1) We don't believe in tip giving or receiving. The other blokes are just here for... "emotional support." Like when we need to have a rant in the goat thread.
2) Our advice would sooner get you relegated than promoted. Believe me.

Okay, had to try anyways.
But for what it's worth, I think you guys are selling yourself a bit short. I understand that exploiting the game engine is probally quite affective with the big clubs, but I still don't think I was wrong in asking you for advice. (yeah, against the rules, I know, that's not what meant I was referring to the amount of knowledge you guys must have)
Over the years you must've adapted a certain kind of way looking at a team. I get the feeling that guys over in the tactics forum stare a lot at names, budgets and tweak ready made tactics (I'm not all that different). But you guys can't really do that, right? You have to focus on finding the strengths of the team.
It was actually a bit of a revelation to me that I shouldn't be looking for "a perfect" tactic with a small team, the tactics forum has mislead on that one a bit. I have already, (on my own, hurray) made a tactic that fits my players positionwise (I have a strong AMC so I'm using one etc).
I don't mean to be pain, but I'll ask it anyway.
What are the strenghts that I should consider when deciding a tactic? It seems like such a dumb question, but I want to hear what you have to say about it.

I think you answered your own question. Have a look at your team and play to what YOU consider to be your strengths.
No good asking us - you are the manager. Do what you get paid to do.
