Into my 3rd season and after being sacked by Blyth managed to get the Sohill Moors job who have just come up.
Anyway have been getting some new players in and have lost 7 out of 7.
Now however i've won 2, draw 1 and lost 1 in the last four, so does this game seem to take its time for new players to bed in and take time to get used to your tactics.
Can not remember the old games being this bad for getting used to everything.

If it's any consolation I can remember every game setting up such observations, Chappers.
We get there, though...eventually.
I still haven't played FM08, it's set up on my machine ready for the patch that will make it "llmsavegameable", but I've listened to all the comments, and the majority are good.
Good luck.

Well got 12 the in my first season at Blyth and then went 15 games without a single point in the 2nd season and went down and got sacked
so this time going with the Target Man and lost 7 out of 7 and the game was almost getting binned.
And then beat the top team at home 3-1 and we are on our way.
Tonight see's if we can carry the form on and move from the bottom of the table

It does feel as though in this version, it takes longer for a team to settle/gel than in '07

yes, if anything FM08 feels more realistic -> frustrating events happen much more frequently.
But aye, the teams do take longer to gel, and then one morning you ask them, are you gelling? and they say yes, and they stop their 14-matches-lost streak.

Yes you need to give your team time to gel, but isn't 7 straight defeats taking the **** a bit?

About 7 games Craig, it may just be coincidence, but I'm sure that was the number for me, and we took one hell of a hammering during those games.

It does take longer to gel in FM08. At least for human managers. I'm far from certain it is so for AI ones, based on recent experience. I posted about it somewhere in the bugs forum.
Two of the teams that got promoted this season, Billericay (\o/) and Hendon, had no players to start off with, so had to buy entirely new teams. Yet they were flying from day one and has been in the top ever since. Not at all realistic. I therefore suspect this 'gel-in time' is only valid for human managers. It would be strange, and perhaps my sample is not a good one, but there is no mistaking it in my current save.
