Hi first post with this account.. be gentle..
I have been around this forum for years..
Ok I have a proposition for future releases of the game.. I realise this post probably belongs in the general forum but its only really relevant to us LLMs so Ill post here and try and avoid a flaming in the process if possible..
I think that Lower League Clubs should have open entry pre-season trials for new players.. with a possible Xmas period trial aswell.. as an additional option for signing new players..
In terms of realism I think this is superior to the current signing protocol..
Also in addition to a player's birth place there current residence and/or distant from one's club should be listed for realism purposes.. Because I doubt a potential player would move cities or even commute any substantial distance for the sake of a part-time football contract..

Good idea, it has been mentioned before. I am aware of low tier non-league teams holding open trials pre-season, as well as the manager inviting sertain players. Not sure this open trial happens at Coference level though.
It could work in a similar fashion to the job centre - you post a trial, players on a free transfer 'turn up' on a pre selected date within the transfer window and you get a stat run-down for each player. Coaches give you a once over and you can make a decision, or offer a further 2 week trial.
I'd expect that it would take a bit of work, but if you apply the same criteria for players as you do for staff, if could well be a great addition.

I'm pretty sure Wycombe did something similar a few years ago. When they had their FA cup run they got their quarter final goalscorer on a free having placed a job advert for available players.
I hope I don't take this thread off-topic too much but I'd like to ask a question regarding the 'realism' factor of the English Football non-leagues and they're players.
Since I'm from Chicago I have to claim ignorance to the fact that I truly don't understand how the 'part-timers' live a life on $100 per-week. Is it safe to assume that most of the people on a team like Havant and Waterlooville have another part-time job or are they taken care of with a place to live in with food on the table by the club?
In regards to the original poster I like the discussion because I could assure you that if I was on the other side of the country I sure as hell wouldn't take myself away from my family for a few hundred a week!

Most part time players in England do have other jobs, so part time teams, such as Havant and Waterlooville, can only train twice a week due to the players other jobs.
In regards to pre-season open day trials, I agree this should become part of LLM as it seems quite common.
I'd like to see the players living location implemented in FM too. This is because in real life you wouldn't see a part time player coming down from up north top play for a southern team for £100 a week.
I do try to play LLM like this, so when my scout recommends players I will only sign them if they are in the south, north etc depending on what team I am.

This has been mentioned by somebody (including myself) at the release of every version of the game over the last few years. We've banded ideas around about how it could be implemented, but unless there is a complete overhaul of the regional structure of each and every country in the game (which won't happen), this'll be nothing more than a LLaMas dream.
